Damit kommen wir der Sache schon näher. Für mich hat Glück die Farbe vom Himmel, halb Zehn Abends. Hinter den Häusern am Himmel ist die Sonne gerade untergegangen. Von der anderen Seite kommt die Nacht mit ihren grünblauen Vorreitern. Und mitten schräg in meinem Fenster trifft sich der Nachzügler in rot mit den ersten Nachtboten. Dort wo sie sich treffen, in diesem Gemisch aus rotorangetürkis, liegt für mich die Farbschattierung Glück. Die Sommerbirkenblätter stechen scharf vom Himmel ab und irgendwo blinkt der este Stern.

Oder liegt dort in der Grenze zwischen Tag und Nacht die Farbe des Glücks?

Vielleicht hat Glück gar keine Farbe.

So leise heimlich wie es kommt und so schnell wie es vorbei ist ist es vielleicht durchsichtig....

By the mid-1980s, Fort Lauderdale officials and residents grew tired of what they considered to be spring break debauchery — trashed hotels, beach brawls and heavy drinking. In 1985, there were about 350,000 spring break visitors, a record crowd at the time.

"It was huge. It was unmanageable," said Dressler.

Overrun with students, Fort Lauderdale yanked its welcome mat from the college tourism business. Cox, the former Fort Lauderdale mayor, appeared on national television along with then-Daytona Beach Mayor Larry Kelly to encourage college vacationers to head up there instead.

Spring break traffic shifted from Fort Lauderdale to Daytona Beach. Cigarette companies and beer brands as well as MTV, with its giant inflatable logo, followed the youth migration there. College students sought out Daytona Beach for a chance to appear on the popular music cable network.

The three teenage friends bonded while listening to an eclectic mix of music: Yellow Magic Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Bootsy, Parliament, Prince, Depeche Mode, and The B-52's. Juan Atkins was inspired to buy a synthesizer after hearing Parliament. Atkins was also the first in the group to take up turntablism, teaching May and Saunderson how to DJ.

Under the name Deep Space Soundworks, Atkins and May began to DJ on Detroit's party circuit. By 1981, Mojo was playing the record mixes recorded by the Belleville Three, who were also branching out to work with other musicians. The trio traveled to Chicago to investigate the house music scene there, particularly the legendary Chicago DJs Ron Hardy and Frankie Knuckles. House was a natural progression from disco music, so that the trio began to formulate the synthesis of this dance music with the mechanical sounds of groups like Kraftwerk, in a way that reflected post-industrialist Detroit. An obsession with the future and its machines is reflected in much of their music, because, according to Atkins, Detroit is the most advanced in the transition away from industrialism.
