This piece is a tender greeting to those who have shaped our lives — near or far, present or remembered. A soundscape that doesn’t seek closure, but carries us forward. Between loss and connection, music emerges that remains.

Eternal Ascent for Reed Quintet

Eternal Ascent portrays the Greek myth of Sisyphus, who was punished by the Gods and sentenced to roll a large boulder up a hill every day, only for it to fall back down when it neared the top.

This constant and arduous task symbolizes the more frustrating side of learning to play an instrument, the stretches of time where no progress is being made or even periods of regression. The music reflects this anguish through its dark and somber tone, with moments of ascending hope anticlimactically returning to the same introductory material, starting this relentless journey over once more.

Though this myth can be a daunting one, we can all be hopeful that we have the ability to push the metaphorical boulder to the top of the mountain with enough work and persistence.

This one is a little over a decade old and it would not exist if not for a friend that had come over and started poking around on my keyboard in an attempt to play something.  My DAW was recording it.  It inspired me to make something.  This is what it has become.

Knowing

I’m a composer, musician and technologist exploring spontaneous songwriting, the art of turning instinct into orchestration. Every track starts as a live improvisation, a melody or harmonic shape unfolding in one take. Every vocal line, lyric and instrument originates from my own performance, sung, played or shaped through hours of focused effort. 

From there, I expand the idea using digital instruments and responsive systems that perform under my direction. The technology doesn’t write for me; it plays with me. I conduct it through tone, phrasing and emotion, shaping each layer until it matches the sound I first heard in my head. 

After two decades as a producer, engineer and multi-instrumentalist, I wanted a faster, more expressive way to capture ideas as they arrive. This process reignited that creative spark, the joy of creation in real time and I learn more and more each day. What you hear isn’t programmed; it’s performed. Each piece captures a single moment of imagination, rendered through technology as the missing piece I always wished I had.
