Here is the story of a little girl learning to play the violin. She struggles to play, and through her struggle she creates a new way of practicing: she imagines bringing her stuffed animal to life; a simple, Orange Elephant. He awakens, sits at a tiny piano (which is the same size as him now) and, for a moment,  plays a tune for her. She is taken by a melody, and plays it, completely enraptured by the intensity and simpleness of the piece.

Sometimes a melody appears out of nowhere, as if someone were guiding their fingers by drawing a line that ends up being beautiful, without having put in any intention, any previous idea, any structure and, obviously, no architecture. It flows and emerges. It happens to me often and I don't know how to explain it. It is an easy air. It lets go and fills the environment. If sound is vibration in the air, I can find no other explanation than feeling that the air facilitates the vibration having its echo. The air accompanies this composition-improvisation. And the air structures it. And the air amplifies it. And that's how it is and that's how it flows.

Flueix i sorgeix. Em passa sovint i no sé explicar-ho. És un aire fàcil. Es deixa anar i omple l'ambient. Fluye y surge. Me pasa a menudo y no sé explicarlo. Es un aire fácil.  Se deja ir y llena el ambiente. Si el sonido es vibración en el aire no encuentro ninguna explicación más que el sentir que el aire facilita que esa vibración tenga su eco. El aire acompaña esta composición-improvisación. Y el aire la estructura. El aire la amplifica. Y así es y así fluye.

The time of the pandemic was marked by countless endless, solitary wanderings through nature. This is captured in this piece for piano and bassoon: as footsteps move steadily through deep snow, memories drift past the mind’s eye— silent, fleeting, and profound.

Pandemic Suite – 09. Lonely Walk

Sirius (Σείριος) was a Greek street dog, playful and kind. Sirius wandered the Athens streets until he was adopted by a lonely, gifted young boy. The two become inseparable. Sirius, whose name means bright and shining, loved running along the beaches of the Aegean in the summer with his boy. Sirius sadly passed away unexpectedly while his boy was away at work and is now a star shining in the sky. He glows especially brightly during the long, hot Greek summer.

Composer/pianist Samuel H. Gray heard this story from the boy, who is now a young man. Sirius and the sombre major-minor Sirius theme came to Samuel in a dream one night. He woke up and wrote the melody down. The other pieces in the suite are fully spontaneously composed, in honour of Sirius' beautiful, playful nature. More pieces and arrangements of the themes may follow.

I’m a composer, songwriter, and technologist working across genres, from cinematic scores to alternative rock and stripped-back acoustic. My creative process is guided by instinct, emotional tone, and a grounding in early piano, guitar, vocal training, and music theory fundamentals. I play guitar, bass, drums, piano and was lead vocalist in a few bands.

Moments, people, or emotional energy can spark melodies or textures in my mind. I often hear complete orchestral pieces internally, as if they already exist and my role is to translate them into sound.

Most tracks begin as a voice note or a musical fragment, then develop through piano, guitar, and high-end production tools. Lyrics follow a similar path. Glimpsed, assembled, and refined. I work in Logic Pro X with Kontakt, EastWest, Arcade, Scalar, Steinberg, Waves, and Kits.ai (ethically licensed vocal models based of my own recordings).
