La segunda vez que se montó mi opera La selva interior fue en el Festival Ultraschall de Berlin en Enero del 2010. Para esta ocasión tuve la posibilidad de extender la obra agregando varios momentos para las seis voces de los  Neue Vocal Solisten de Stuttgart. Para ellos escribi 3 secciones completas llamadas Hormigas. Moscas y Pájaros. La primer versión estrenada en Buenos Aires tenía una sección muy intensa llamada Agonía para soprano y ensamble. La agonía de la primer mujer de Quiroga que se suicidó tomando veneno pero estuvo 8 días en agonía antes de morir. En Berlin pensé que la obra necesitaba una agonía grave (la de Quiroga) que equilibrara formalmente a la otra. Unos pocos días antes del estreno trabajamos con los cantantes en Stuttgart y una mañana me desperté, fui a la sala de ensayo que estaba alado de mi dormitorio y allí estaba el contrabajo preparado para la sección Hormigas. El contrabajo representa el cuerpo de Quiroga y las "hormigas" el cáncer. No sabía hasta ese momento cómo debería sonar la "Agonía grave" pero esa mañana me imaginé ser el cuerpo agonizante de Quiroga, grabé esto y luego lo transcribí para el estreno.

La Cabeza de Goliat para violín solo (2009) Es originalmente una grabación que hice en el violín en diciembre del 2000. La grabación durmió 9 años hasta que decidí transcribirla para David Nuñez. La transcripción derivó en otra música con el título La cabeza de Goliat II ( o La cabeza de David) estrenada en Buenos Aires en Noviembre del 2009. La transcripción abrió espacios nuevos en la imaginación debido a la dificultad de la escritura de las acciones del arco. La obra sigue su proceso independiente hasta el día de hoy.
El título refiere metonímicamente al efecto cortante de ciertos sonidos de arco producidos con presión extrema sobre las cuerdas del violín a lo largo de la obra. El título también hace referencia al libro del escritor y ensayista Ezequiel Martinez Estrada quien además de su famosa y lúcida Radiografía de la Pampa escribió un analisis similar sobre Buenos Aires que lleva el título de esta obra. Martinez Estrada tocaba el violín y en los años de su amistad con Horacio Quiroga consideró seriamente dejar la pluma y tomar el arco como actividad definitiva. Por suerte no fue así ya que de haberlo sido nos hubieramos privado de una de las mentes más agudas de la literatura argentina.

One day in the year 2005?  the Argentinean flutist Mariana Stratta came to NYC to work on my flute pieces for her doctoral dissertation. The second day she bought a bass flute  and brought it to our meeting. That night she left and asked me to leave the flute in my apt. I told her that because I have never touch a bass flute probably I will feel like playing it. Next morning it was raining and I felt like playing the bass flute. Because of the sound of the rain I decided to put the recorder in the bathroom  and later in the day I went to the bathroom and made this recording plus another section of a different nature. Few years after when I was living in Berlin I listened to this recording and decided to transcribe it and sent the score to Mariana.
Polifonía concreta was premiered by Mariana Stratta at the 39th Annual National Flute Association Convention in 2011. Her effort in learning the piece by reading the score and listening to the original recording presented here inspired me to write a new -more detailed-version in 2013.  That new score of Polifonía concreta is dedicated to Mariana Stratta.

In December 2008 the guitarist Magnus Anderson lent me his 10 string guitar to explore the possibilities and eventually write a new work for him. The classical guitar is the only instrument I formally studied and probably because of that I never wrote a piece for guitar. To break this state of mind I decided to take the instrument in a blind session and this is the result of that experience. Similar to some other pieces I wanted to transcribe the sounds of this recording and found it absolutely impossible so far due to the humoring techniques and the speed of the events. 
The word "maraña" is present in several of my works. The meaning is tangle or skein and suggest the textural landscape of the sounds.

The day that I left the DAAD studio in Berlin in 2010 I sat down at the piano that belongs to the Thomas Mann' family. I had almost not played that piano for the year I was there. 
I don't use the piano to compose but wanted to have a souvenir of that piano and decided to concentrate and play four moments in the name of four composers: Satie, Debussy, Stravinsky and Antheil; four different personalities for the piano.
In this recording "For Antheil" I had in mind the spirit of his piano music and more importantly his talent as a boxer.

Few weeks ago I had access to Friedrich Haas' office @ Columbia University where he works with 3 microtonal pianos. I thought about Scelsi and his piano music so different from his string music. I imagined what music he could have written with them.

En Marzo del 2006 viajé a Buenos Aires para trabajar con los músicos que estrenarían La selva interior en Julio de ese mismo año.   Pensé que la mejor manera de aceitar las técnicas instrumentales y el tipo de material sonoro de la obra era a través de la lectura minuciosa de la partitura y de improvisaciones dirigidas. Dividimos el tiempo de trabajo en lecturas/ensayos con Santiago Santero y momentos de improvisación con materiales derivados de esas lecturas dirigidas por mi. Pocas de estas sesiones de improvisación fueron grabadas. Esta en una de ellas. In May 2014 I met Leo Genovese @ Why Not Jazz Room in NYC. With him I got to know a beautiful group of musicians that soon became brothers and sisters. During almost 2 years -and week after week- Why Not was a laboratory of sounds with many musicians participating in jam sessions in an almost random fashion. This version of Leo's National Insecurity was the last song of that night. Techniques of Ecstasy is a collection of recordings I made in different situations, with different instruments along several years.

The title -borrowed from the book by Mircea Eliade- does not intend to suggest a shamanistic practice but rather a particular state of mind from which the performances of these works manifest themselves.

The unpremeditated nature of these recordings reveal remote areas of expression—the unconscious mind and body moving freely without known direction. They are at the same time connected to similar sonic results in the apparently more rational activity of composition.
