A mix focusing on the sound of 90's New York. The tracks aren’t all exclusively from New York (or indeed from the 90’s) but that where they drew their inspiration from.

Tribal. Darker. Music for big rooms. 
For the club kids. The bad kids. The drug kids. 
Vogue-battles, fierce queens, Strobelight Honeys and Banji Boys. 

Listen as I dig in to my record collection and get gradually more drunk. This isn't the tightest mix I'll ever do but it was fun to do and that's all that matters.

This mix also serves as a reminder to us all to clean our records.

So that was the final night at the Paradise Farage. Sadly the club has had to be closed down, demolished and the site turned into a giant lorry park as a result of Brexit. For our last show, we travelled to Ray Mang's studio and streamed live from deepest East London with Mr Mang himself, a Leftside Wobble guest mix and me. Born in Jakarta, in the 80’s @dea-barandana grew up with the sound of Indonesian city pop and new wave. Nowadays he lives in Bali, where he's a resident DJ at Potatohead Beach Club. We had a pleasure to have Dea here in 2019 for NYE playing at Bar da Praia. 

Described by Gilles Peterson as ‘The best DJ I’ve heard in 10 years’, Dea recorded a mixtape for us playing some rare world songs.

Ryan Bishop is behind one of the most creative and consistent multi-modal musical platforms out there. Dream Chimney (which hardly needs introducing), was certainly a big inspiration for 5918mins. and we are very happy to have him onboard. 

DJing himself under the name "The Beat Broker", Ryan developed a propensity towards Balearic sounds, which seemed to fit perfectly with the current time of the year. We are also very impressed by Ryan's consistency in digging and playing high-quality newer releases (which only makes sense if one one is interested in the musical, rather than the collectable worth of records).

It's the tenth anniversary of my Nude Disco Mixtapes. Not quite the upfront nu-disco promo packed affair that they used to be in 2010, but more where I am at musically at this particular moment in time. When I feel disconnected from any of the current dance music genres,  I start digging back into what I consider the most inspirational decades; the 80s and 90s. Tunes I would have turned my nose up at the time, have now become little time capsules, that inject some positivity into my creative life. This mixtape is an hour longer than the usual offering, simply because I got lost down so many musical rabbit holes, discovering tracks that had to make the final edit. It's not that these mixes rack up millions of streams, far from it. But, the people that press play feedback to me, and that keeps me keeping on...

Lumberjacks in Hell has been founded in 2010. Intimate Friends followed in 2013. For some people the difference or the need for distinction between these two is quite evident but to give you an idea. Lumberjacks is always 100% for the dance floor, inspired by the music from Chicago and Detroit which is not only reflected in the Artists we release. Intimate Friends is a headier affair. Soul, Hip Hop and House are all fair game. If you check the releases next to each other both labels have a distinct sound. And maybe a certain BPM range. This isn't saying that some of the music couldn't have appeared on either label but somehow it all makes sense to me. Thanks for supporting the music and artists we are releasing and don't hesitate to get in touch! We love to hear from you,
