Genic are set to release their biggest project on Dispatch Recordings yet. Their forthcoming album features an array of influences, from Dnb, Techno, Classic and UK Hip Hop to Reggae, with their tenacity obvious from the LP’s beginning to end. Marked by this forthcoming sampler, which includes exclusive ‘Disposal’, as well as album track ‘Grow’.

‘Rough Nights’ is proving to be one of their most expansive musical exploits to date.

Kolectiv - 2020 Recap Part Two

NOS, along with his late brother, Mark, formed the music production outfit Hidden Agenda, who released in the early Drum'n'Bass scene on many influential labels such as Metalheadz, Creative Source & Reinforced.

Following up the Dispatches trilogy on Metalheadz, Hidden Agenda started their own label, Dispatch Recordings, as a platform to release a second album and their own solo material as NOS (Jason) and Max Fresh (Mark). Initially aided by Ant TC1 on managerial duties, Ant TC1 now runs Dispatch Recordings to this day.

Jason stepped away from the music scene for a lot of years, started a family and settled into a 'proper' job, always expecting to keep producing and go back to it eventually. Following the death of his brother to cancer in 2016, and much self-examination consequently, he's making the return, in Mark's name as well as his own.

Jason has set up a Patreon for a direct link between himself and anyone who wants to join him on this journey back into drum and bass; if you become a patron, apart from his eternal gratitude, you will receive exclusive mixes, unreleased/exclusive tracks, early access and he will try to fulfil as many requests and suggestions for content thrown at him. Hidden Agenda - Journeys Mix Part 4 - January 2021

Our first podcast of 2021 comes from Mako, a staple of the Metalheadz camp and an artist that has released both a solo album and a collab album (as OneMind) on the label in recent years. 

For this edition the Bristol-based producer and DJ has dug deep into his crates to deliver a Certificate 18 special, a groundbreaking label founded by Paul Arnold in 1993 that went on to nurture the talents of early pioneering figures such as Photek, Source Direct, Teebee, Klute and more. 

In Goldie's own words "Certificate 18 isn’t really a label, in the same way that Ibiza Records isn’t a label, in the same way that Kikman Records isn’t a label. It’s the very foundation. It’s a certain parallax with those labels that sometimes when we’re in the dark we need to shine a brighter light on those that have paved the way”.

‘The Full Moon EP’ sees Philth & Wreckless join forces for a project created during two sessions at Philth’s studio. With their solo work making up some of our favourite tracks on the label, this combination of artists makes the EP quite special. 

Sharing a love of classic breakbeats and 1999 tech rollers, they made a conscious decision not to over-polish the mixes - keeping the raw edge to the drums and dirty bass textures. Aiming to bring back the rough feel of their favourite older tunes, with arrangements that roll out for the DJ's. 

During these sessions Wreckless noticed that it was a ‘Full Moon’, just as the title track was taking shape - a drum led track that grows and develops throughout, balancing layers of subtle additions to the driving weight of the tune.   

These concepts are reflected in the artwork, with the 'tech moon' representing the meeting of rugged natural sounds and modern technology.
