It all began in the early 90’s at a Los Angeles party called Gilligan’s Island 2 where Madina was exposed to Mark Farina and Derrick Carter doing a 4 turntable performance that set the tone for his passion . He was so moved by the experince that he began producing his own events in the NW under the names Willard E Love, UHF, Nuclear Family, and finally Zoot Suit Entertainment. During that period of time Madina had brought out many Dj’s to the NW for the first time such as; Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Diz, Dj Heather, Johnny Fiasco,and Stacey Pullen, to name a few.Being exposed to all these talented Dj’s led Madina to begin collecting records in ’94 and by ’95 felt more than comfortable behind the decks. By 1997 with many successful events in both Seattle and Portland, it seemed a good time to transition to a permanent venue.This led to the now legendary nightclub called Zoot Suite (’97-’00), which was Portland’s first club featuring international Dj talent on a regular basis and helped give house music a home in Portland.
Soon after Zoot Suite ended Marc Madina immersed himself in the production side of music, building a home studio and going back to school to study music.After putting in several years in the studio, Madina felt comfortable enough to begin passing his tracks around and found that they started getting played by the likes of Mark Farina, Diz, Miles Maeda, Gene Hunt and several others.
Currently Madina has teamed up with friend and fellow producer Lurob and have given new life to the name Zoot Suite, now as a premier house music label. With several original tracks and multiple remixes under his belt Madina feels he has finally hit his stride with many of his tracks showing up on Mark Farina’s monthly podcasts and continued support from many top notch Djs.
Madina’s music can be found on several well-known house music labels such as: Kinjo, Tango, Clique Trax, Zoot Suite, and now GLA with several new projects in the pipeline.
