Keep It Up

Marco Oostra is a young Dutch aspiring pop/rock singer from Groningen, The Netherlands. His voice has an appealing raspy quality not many singers are able to match. He took part in several talent shows like The Voice of Holland and Popstars. At age seventeen he started taking piano lessons while studying Music & Sound design at the Noorderpoort College in Groningen. When he was nineteen years old, Marco started taking singing classes and taught himself to play the guitar. In the following years he lived like a recluse. Behind closed doors he worked, with steel determination, on perfecting his singing and playing skills, all with one goal; being successful in the music industry.

In 2010, three years after his first strike of a piano key and only one year after his first singing lesson, Marco decides to put his talents to the test by entering the televised talent show Popstars. He manages to make it to the live shows. In 2012 he once again claims the spotlight by participating in The Voice of Holland. He effortlessly sails through the preliminaries and manages to turn the chairs of Nick & Simon during the blind auditions.

For some time now Marco makes his living as a musician. He plays at weddings and in bars and restaurants accompanying himself on guitar and piano. He’s also a resident performer at De Drie Gezusters, a well known pub in Groningen. He recently teamed up with songwriter Jemy Gijsman and is now working on building his own repertoire. Their work is influenced by: Stevie Wonder, Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran and The Beatles.
