Track of the Day: Phutek “Edged”

ELEVATE – a label started by one of the best loved techno duos of the moment Pig&Dan, focuses on releasing music to make the listener feel just that – ‘elevated’. Since its inception in 2012, its seen a stream of hits climb the Beatport charts, featuring artists including Amelie Lens, Monika Kruse, Christian Smith, Julian Jeweil and Matador among many others.

Its 75th release comes from none other than the label bosses themselves, marking Pig&Dan’s 7th solo EP on the label.

Kicking things off, the title track “Starting Again” has a slamming kick and crisp shaker shuffle that sets the pace. It's a driving cut designed for an intense dancefloor experience. The vocals and synth collaborate effortlessly, delivering a subtle but beautiful breakdown.

Deep in those morning hours “A.M.” brings a dark abyss like track with a haunting synth pattern coupled by a bellowing horn. Both dominate the soundscape as vocal echoes escape into the mix.

Modulating low end and funked out percussion stabs roll through “In My Mind”, the filtered vocal leaks delicately in and out of the darkness, whilst the hook emerges in satisfying ooze like form.

Fast pace, old school techno inspiration comes in the form of “Obsession” to close out the EP. It comes at you with bump and swing. It’s got simple but super catchy vocals, rolling between that rhythmic peak time groove.

Ki Creighton has teamed up with regular collaborators Tolstoi & Andsan for 'Portage', Underground Audio's latest release.

The pace of the EP is set by opening record 'Portage', the non-lexical vocal melody pushing the track fowards. Caleb Calloway then cuts up the original mix, focusing on a staggered bassline to create the space for intricate percussion rhythms.

'Hooper' sees the 'Under No Illusion' label boss Creighton working back alongside Tolstoi & Andsan for an acid inspired 303 roller, who then calls upon the expertise of Yost Koen to round off the top-drawer EP with his interpretation

Our main man from Florence, Leonardo Gonnelli, is back on Deeperfect for his second EP this year, and he is bringing us a super hot release for the summer! Leonardo is a regular on the imprint and he is renowned for delivering heavyweight music for us as well as labels like Get Physical, Play It Say It and Circus Recordings. For this EP he is joined by the amazingly talented vocalist, Forrest, who has seen his work released on such established labels as Moon Harbour, Crosstown Rebels and Visionquest to name but a few.
‘Back To You’ comes in hot with a heavy beat in Leonardo Gonnelli’s signature style. Tough drums and a pushing low end groove set the scene for a hedonistic club workout. Glitched vocal cuts appear and the tension builds until the sublime voice of Forrest finally takes center stage. The prolific vocalist delivers lush toplines with silky smooth melodies which perfectly contrast Gonnelli’s underground vibes. A true timeless piece of club music that stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Leonardo Gonnelli delivers a second original cut titled ‘Minimonster’. One this track he has delivered another expertly crafted club weapon which builds around fast past percussion and a deep pulsing sub bass line. Modulated synth swells twist and turn in the soundscape and a tense detuned bell riff grabs the spotlight. The melody runs throughout the track providing a memorable and mesmerizing hook to this floor smashing record.
