Inspired by the dawn of personal computing back in the 1980's when 8-bit video games first appeared in our homes on machines like the Atari, Spectrum ZX or even Phil's own first computer - the Commodore Vic20. 'Computer Games' tips a nod back with it's eerily addictive end-of-level hook and abstract stabs combining to create a piece further influenced by the likes of Kraftwerk and Yello.

'Six Trak' is titled in honor of the legendary Sequential Circuits 'Six Trak' analogue-synth from the same era, which has recently taken up residence in PKR Studios. Composed entirely from 'Six Trak' sounds (apart from the drums) and recorded live on the fly with no sequencing, 'Six Trak' is a lesson how timeless simplicity never goes out of fashion.

Sweden&#8217;s influence on modern Techno can never be overrated. Over the past twenty years the ever growing band of dedicated artists emerging from the country have each played a huge part in the global growth and development of the sound. Stockholm&#8217;s Joel Mull is one of the key and original members of the country&#8217;s musical militia. Known for his dynamic and often marathon DJ sets and his impressive releases for the likes of Music Man, Cocoon, Kanzleramt and Drumcode, the DJ/Producer is steeped in Techno history. Today though he again proves his eyes, and ears, are looking firmly to future with his latest work and debut release for Nicole Moudaber&#8217;s MOOD imprint. 

The Three track Wind It Up EP again highlights Joel&#8217;s love and skill for crafting atmospheric and harmonic techno. The Waiting&#8217;s powerful kick drum is governed by its beautifully intergalactic breakdown, before Wind It Up&#8217;s marching groove is bathed in swirling synths. The EP is closed by the industrial roller Geodesi, with its ethereal guitar riff.

It's been a long time in the making. From their early days as label-mates on the legendary Gigolo records, these two dons have remixed each other, DJ'd back-to-back, even worked on the same motion picture together (Ivory Tower), but not until now have they teamed up so completely, or to such devastating effect. On the eve on BNR's 10 year celebrations, where the two will headline a series of 6 shows together, Turbo proudly presents '100.'

Both producers come through clearly: the slamming drums and acid Boys Noize has so thoroughly mastered, the clever vocal hooks, catchy basslines and ravey breakbeat flourishes that are the feathers in Tiga's boa - the best of both artists are brought together here, with a distinct nod to their electro roots. It's an immediate winner, asserting it's sonic prowess through a flawless arrangement, confidently proclaiming it's perfection in a slick, round triple-digit. One-hundred.

The magic, as in Mind Dimension, Let's Go Dancing, or Bugatti, is for packaging true pop into a compact, techno power-punch that leaves underground cred intact. Both Tiga and Boys Noize are outstandingly versatile DJs who consistently yearn for something more than the obvious tropes of EDM, embracing extremes, fitting in the esoteric, being connoisseurs of a multitude of micro-genres of electronic music. 'Jam #1' is an ode to these low-slung techno roots, a stripped-down bonus beat that lays down the law of the drum machine, and sets the stage for the forthcoming '808 IRAQ' pulled from the same Berlin studio-session, soon to be released on BNR.

French Fries marks his return to Parisian label ClekClekBoom with his new release featuring two rhythmic weapons. Our top pick "Working on a Dream" opens the EP. Dreamlike synths and coin-dropping bells glitter overhead as drum pads and a steady bassline keep us grounded – all teamed alongside some analog bugs and machine malfunctions, due to Mr. Fries' choice to record the track on a glitchy tape before mastering. A slightly unconventional artistic touch to a powerful-yet-fragile cut for the dancefloor.

What's in a name? Well, when you decide to call yourself Acid Bitchez, quite a lot. Harking back to a simpler time, when Chicago ruled the roost, the freshly formed duo of Juha Johnny (who eagle eared readers may remember as as one of the black-tie wearing 303-knob twiddlers in Jori Hulkkonen's Acid Symphony Orchestra) and "lyrical miracle" Jessika have made the most auspicious of debuts, landing on Tiga's Turbo imprint to take us on an acid trip of epic proportions.

Titled 'Thinking About Acid' (we're starting to notice a theme here...) their debut record has seen the label draft in fellow acid enthusiasts - the music not the drug - on remix duties with Jori Hulkkonen, General Ludd, Zia and Joeski all brought in to reshape the cut in their own image. Tiga asks that you finally return the favor by making him fall in love with the music with Make Me Fall In Love, the second single off his forthcoming full-length, No Fantasy Required which Annie Mac has premiered as a Hottest Record In The World. Featuring vocals by Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears and the production acumen of Martin Buttrich, the track dials the vibe machine to the deepest, sexiest, slinkiest Lover’s Esperanto, a universal plea to understand universality in all its forms, be they melodic, spiritual, or simply the lowdown dirty lust between people without public lives, private bathrooms, and the sort of iTunes playlists that clear you seven figures a year.

The single also features a “Tiga vs. Audion” pop version of the track, which sees the two frequent collaborators - and original co-writers of the song - fun-tune the proceedings in an open and honest attempt to conquer the radio charts, which Tiga is convinced still exist.

“This is my attempt to speak the language of the people, to read something more into their white-bread tastes and European-bread politics,” says Tiga from Downtown Planet Earth. “If you simply listen hard enough, you can hear whatever you want, and that’s good enough for me.”

There’s always been a fertile creative tension at the heart of Tiga’s music: on the one hand he’s the underground techno don, on the other, there’s a pop sensibility that enables him to write great songs. It’s this duality that makes him one of electronic music’s most engaging characters. He’s about as far from your faceless techno DJ as it’s possible to get.

In his illustrious career, he’s remixed LCD Soundsystem, Depeche Mode, Coldcut, The XX, Fever Ray and Moby, among many others. He has used his Turbo label to break new acts like Duke Dumont (first release), Chromeo, Gesaffelstein and Boyz Noize. In addition, he has frequently collaborated with luminaries such as James Murphy, Pusha Tand, on No Fantasy Required, Hudson Mohawke, Paranoid London and Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. Now, working with key producer Matthew Dear, and Finnish wizard Jori Hulkkonen (who also performs with him live), 

No Fantasy Required (from which Make Me Me Fall In Love is taken) is a collection of inspired songs that just happen to be delivered via visceral dance music. Tiga has made a record on which he says he feels “more honest, open and playful.” It’s an album with songs and real character, one also packed with instant bangers.  No fantasy is required both because this is an honest, open, playful record and also because it provides all the fantasy you could need.
