Lucidflow welcome back Buenos Aires based producer Hernan Bass for their 165th release. His tireless worldwide touring calendar has seen the producer's sound refined into a rugged and tested form. It can be dropped in, twisted, flexed and show no sign of stress, such is its reinforced nature. This is demonstrated in style across the 'No Me Creias' three tracker. 
Leading off 'Un Oasis Entre Las Sierras' drops in with a simple kick. Then it drops in a second kick. With a little nod of recognition, expectations are set for the ride ahead. Deft melodies drop in to soften the experience, however their purpose is to set the scene for the architecturally placed builds and drops that create a sense of perpetual motion.
Following this, the title track takes the stage with similar intent. Here, it is all about how the ping ponging syncopated bassline dances around the beat. It is less melody and more perforation. The anticipation that it builds allows for a drop, the introduction of a second bassline and a kick off for a taut exercise in maintained tension.
Finally, 'Sin Ropa Pero Con Onda' continues with the rubbery low end vibe. Here, the accent is the retro flavoured house stabs that sit over the top, with the key switch being the little sidestep into breaks that happens over the first breakdown. Succinct and precise.

Dub Taylor - Snail Race

The next release on Lucidflow comes from the well travelled I AM BAM, born in Italy and based in Berlin by way of Los Angeles, Tehran and Sydney. He lives up to his moniker, with the 'Hafez' EP offering four cuts of uncompromising techno. It goes BAM.
The four tracks - 'Until', 'Hafez', 'Dunkel' and 'Stabs' - share similar themes. Firstly, there is the kick. It takes centre stage, a boxy boom with an incredible tail. Listening on headphones, it will make you feel like you are stood in a 2,000 capacity warehouse, such is its presence.
Then there are the stabs. Lucidflow's signature motif is arguably its resonant dub stabs, however I AM BAM provides a different take. Here, the influence is Inner City, Nitro Deluxe, working the familiar Detroit edged chords with a relentless energy.
Finally, there is the main room atmosphere. Big drops, white noise rushes, and ghostly drifts. Tried and tested techniques executed with precision. Airs and graces are checked at the door on 'Hafez', this is wall to wall club material with only one purpose in mind.

Storied producer Patrick Chardronnet helms the latest release on Lucidflow with a diverse array of tracks backed by a Klartraum remix. Patrick barely needs an introduction but, for those catching up, his appearances include Bedrock Records, Connaisseur Recordings, Crosstown Rebels and Poker Flat. In essence, it is quite the résumé. 

Relishing the chance to flex some dub muscles across three tracks, 'Dub Of Aces' (lyrics: Aero Manyelo) offers something for everyone. The title track itself is a low key house track, taking things into smoked out territories by having the tempo of its elements. 'Traces' is a main room agitating piece of techno, rolling in like a distant storm before taking absolute command with machine driven precision. Then we are taken home with the downtempo 'Miqio', exercising some choice lofi analogue percussion before smothing the track in layers of resonance and hypnotism. 

Nadja Lind and Helmut Ebritch then step up and demonstrate their many years of production nous on their rework of 'Dub Of Aces'. Returning the favour for Patrick's remix of 'Grinsekatze' from their 2018 album 'Void Universes' their touch on 'Dub Of Aces' is deft, bringing the half time elements up to speed, but introducing percussion that is deliciously human in delivery, with every micro-fraction away from the quantized beat is a delicious morsel for the soul.

Long time Lucidflow favourite Dub Taylor returns to the label with a direct three tracker on the 'Frequenzeule' EP. The lead track sets us on the way, with ghostly wisps quickly dispersing into a rumbling and churning low end. It is one of those tracks where deft use of field samples create rhythmic percussion that serves to propel you forwards. Its loose energy is beguiling, elements dropping in excitedly and restlessly joining the fray.
While 'Frequenzeule' is dense and foggy, 'Triple Bottom Omega' is frosty and clear. Leaning on Lucidflow's deep dub identity, it is one of those tracks that does a lot with the merest of gestures. A little aquatic dub chord drops in and out, the percussion sits in the background with a subtle touch, and mangled up vocal snippets counterbalance the writhing bass line.
Sandwiched between these two is 'Ak The A', which pushes towards the house end of the sonic scale. This isn't to say it is a straight up workout, watery dub echo paints the walls, cosmic deep chords blanket the surface of your eardrums and the shifts in chords emotively tug at your heartstrings.
