In between the re-releases of the two legendary Drexciya albums released on Tresor in ’99 and ’01, the Berlin techno institute is proud to re-present Transllusion’s “The Opening Of The Cerebral Gate”. 
For the first time music fans will be able to experience the whole journey on vinyl. The 3LP package includes the vinyl version of the album as it was originally released plus a bonus 12” featuring “Look Within”, “Unordinary Realities” and “Do You Want to Get Down (Vocal De Void)” - for the first time available on wax. 
Produced by the late James Marcel Stinson and released in 2001 via Supremat, a short-lived sub-label Tresor dedicated to a more abstract and experimental electro sound, “The Opening Of The Cerebral Gate” was conceived as the second part of the so-called Drexciyan Storms – a whopping stack of seven albums by the Detroit pair released under dierent monikers within a single year (the Tresor album “Harnessed The Storm” being the first). This phase marks a groundbreaking time for the duo, their cosmos breaking wide open, right at the dawn of a new technological era in electronic music production. All this is deeply reflected in
Transllusion’s first album.
Thematically, “The Opening Of The Cerebral Gate” saw Stinson shift away from the grand narrative of the
Drexciyan saga, instead exploring a sub-plot of esoteric concepts revolving around internal, mental and
psychedelic tropes. Musically, it presents the electro genius at the height of his game.
The album is chock full of hypercharged arpeggios and driving pulse patterns, morse-like tones and chord
stabs, huge, über-booming tympanic kicks and grainy snares, (see openers “Transmission of Life” and “War
of the Clones”). On the other end of the stylistic spectrum it features sweeter tones and moments of sheer,
staggering beauty (“Dimensional Glide” or the CD’s centerpieces “Look Within” and “Unordinary Realities”).
In between, all kinds of alien electro funk shadings are to be found, every single track so well-executed
making it impossible to pick a highlight.

Seeking for the Dancefloor

Bjarki is from Iceland. Born and raised. Despite the fact that Bjarki is known for making extremely powerful dancefloor tracks he doesn’t seem to belong to any particular genre. Something this triptych of LPs demonstrate very well. His music is at times cinematic and there’s a story behind each track. Bjarki’s music always has something to do with him personally, but he’d rather the listener lose themselves in the music than pay much attention to the man behind them. Either on a record or to one of his ever evolving live sets.

Б | Lefhanded Fuqs | Æ will be released over the coming months and represent a snapshot of his archive, selected by Nina Kraviz for Trip. The tracks were produced months ago, years ago, or in the case of the last track just a couple of weeks ago. What began with 30 tracks is now 41. The three LPs aren’t albums in the traditional sense - the concept being to release the contents of his burgeoning hard drives. The music might together like an album, but Bjarki doesn’t see it that way. It’s essentially an archive that sounds like an album but none of the music was made with this in mind.

“Б ” [TRP007 |17th June] - consisting of more ravey, sample-based music, mostly tracks that Bjarki never had any intention of releasing. But since Nina has been playing many of them in her sets, releasing them has been given new meaning. In the rave culture of the 90s, that’s proved a strong influence on many of these tracks, what matters was actually “being there”. There was no immediate or alternate technological way to experience it otherwise. "Б" из “B” letter in cyrillic. It’s a word play. A missive for “being" in the moment, being present, being aware… B is for Bjarki.

Appearing on the 20 year anniversary compilation from Drumcode, Truncate remixed "Miss You" off of my album, "Monoliths." Most remixes these days are completely different tracks from the original with almost zero material from the original. However, I think David did a great job of basically using only the source material actually 'remix' into it a completely new techno banger. People have been asking for this one for over a year, and it now it will finally be available.
