There are some souls out there that simply have to play music; Marco has one of those. It is something that goes way past the initial blast of when he first heard the Beatles; it’s beyond the indication of talent he had the very first time he picked up a guitar; beyond the fact that he captures audiences with just a couple of notes. Marco feels the vibration of a profound legacy and lives to make it beat with each breath he takes. Always on the move: never happy with a result. Constantly thriving to acquire a higher standard of musical understanding.

One hears Marco play and is immediately taken away by fragments of intense passion that come straight from the European Gypsy culture. Those incredibly talented musicians that spent centuries riding scales next to campfires as they were migrating across Europe and the Mediterranean region. What is also apparent is as intense technical knowledge and research attitude, the same one that can be heard in Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola.

This is what Marco does: he blends knowledge with research and pours the  mix onto rocks of passion.

Here is a man who started performing at a very early age after hearing the “Fab Four” on his way back from the beach. “I got into the house for lunch as a small kid and I remember seeing The Beatles on TV. My father was watching the show and I was kidnapped by the undeniable desire to be in that word they were stepping out of”. How does Marco’s music relate to the elegant and evergreen Liverpool-made world-changing pop? It doesn’t, and how Marco begun his musical path is a clear sign that this was going to be something unique and totally diverse. Any other youngster who in those times fell in love with Pop music just went for more pop music. Marco did not; he headed for the unbeaten path of folkloristic sounds, hidden atmospheres and soul-invigorating high-speed gipsy scales. There is no way we can pin point what he does exactly, because what he does is somehow everywhere on the music spectrum and nowhere at the same time. Marco is his own genre.

He has been presenting his unique Mediterranean style to massive audiences in Europe with perfect and soul-warming shows and theatre performances (he also collaborated with world class theatrical director Giorgio Strehler). He has performed in Asia and has ventured into every fragment of musical exploration.

When things seemed to be going just well, Marco packed his bags and moved to the US. Why? Because that’s his nature: a roaming troubadour with nothing holding him back. The challenge is now in his audience’s hands: will they be able to find him or will he move on in the shade of his own guitar case?
