Fresh off the back of her recent DJ Kicks compilation release and an EP for Shall Not Fade in 2021, Cinthie returns to Will Saul’s Aus imprint for her first EP release of 2022, once again delivering her raw, energetic House sound to the world. Title-cut ‘Light A Fire’ leads the way and lays down organic drums, hypnotic vocal lines and choppy stab sequences alongside bumpy bass tones, intricately unfolding synth swells, resonant bleeps, and dynamic delays, resulting in a big sun-drenched anthem to perfectly set the tone. ‘Keeping Strong’ follows next and employs classic House tropes via gritty string stabs, plucked bass notes and dubbed out vocal cuts, running atop skippy, swinging drums for six and a half minutes. ‘Everything’ then rounds out the release, diving deeper this time as Cinthie employs dubbed out chords, weighty subs, crunchy percussion, and cinematic, elongated strings swells, concluding the release with a smooth, emotive feel.

Detroit Swindle – AKA – Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are back with their first new material in a year and it’s great!

The two have been making waves, particularly in the UK over the past month and it’s excellent to have them back in full swing. From bringing their own ‘Great Escape’ party to Leeds to performing an endearing set at Fabric on Valentines day, it seems like almost the perfect time to bring you an exclusive first listen to the pairs brand new ‘The Punch Drunk EP’

The extended play leads off with ‘Allright (We’ll Be)’ a feel-good slice of future-retro discoid filter vocal house. The Dutch duo have nothing to do with Detroit – or techno – but have crafted a track that plays like a classic Nervous or Strictly Rhythm soundtrack.

Second track ‘Pursuit’ is more of chuggy, deeper track enthusing smooth, melodic synth pads, deep, groovy low-end sounds and easy-listening piano chords.

The EP is set for release through the duo’s own label Heist Recordings on the 23rd February and will be available through all major music distribution sites.

Play It Say It welcome Jasper James, one of the hottest artists of the day, for their next EP, calling upon Rob Mello to serve up some of his legendary No Ears remixes to seal the deal on this fine package.

Glaswegian DJ/producer Jasper James has been on the scene for a number of years now, playing across the globe and featuring on the summer lineups at Space, DC-10 and Sankeys Ibiza. His appointment as resident at the hotly anticipated Phonox in 2015 has made him a household name amongst house music fans and allowed him to fur- ther develop his abilities in the booth through his extended 6 hour sets. He has re- leased on labels like Leftroom and Optimo Trax with his well-informed house sound joins the dots between the past, present and future, the original he offers here is an- other essential offering from the in-demand star.

The brilliant, instantly party-starting ’Dirty Wrong’ is a dirty disco-house tune with a tightly coiled bass riff that rolls on and on. The percussion is loose and playful and more trilling guitar riffs all help colour the groove as it builds and builds. After a steamy, drawn out and intense opening crescendo the thing finally drops and will send crowds wild with its firing vocals, explosive synths and authentic old school feel.

Rob Mello has put out his iconic mixes and originals mainly on labels like Classic, and years later they still sound as good as the day they were released. First up here, his fine No Ears remix is a wild style jam with flailing hits and funky synths all underpinned by big rubbery drums. It’s more direct than the original but is just as heart warming and human in its party vibe. A clever use of filters cuts out then drops in various elements for even more liveliness on the ‘floor.

His equally effective No Ears Dub is more deep and stripped back, with cosmic keys and well-crafted bass swagger all making this one ripe for intimate dancefloors. Some classic vocal samples only stoke the thing further, and as with all Mello mixes, this one is another classic.

There is a timeless nature to this package that is sure to make it one of the biggest releases of not just this summer, but many summers to come.
