Words from the artist: "I’ve never recorded such a long studio mix before and since we all can't play parties anymore, it felt good to do it. The mix reflects an all-night long set as I would play it right now, compressed into 3:33 hours. The evening starts with warm and smooth breakbeat tunes in the first half hour and are then followed by smooth deep house tracks. After that we go straight into the night with a wild ride between Progressive House and Melodic Techno. Besides some new stuff from myself I will also present upcoming releases from my label Radikon". 

BIO: Spirited emotion is the protagonist in Jonas Saalbach’s brand of electronic dance music. Deeply uplifting and body-moving, he has released eps and long players with Einmusika, Bedrock and his own imprint Radikon. Hailing from a small town in southern Germany, Jonas moved to Berlin at a young age to pursue the dream of bringing his musical vision to the world stage. A decade later, he has performed at hundreds of locations on five continents, the world-renowned Burning Man and Fusion festivals and a cliff in the Norwegian fjords for a sensational back to back Cercle performance with Einmusik broadcasted to millions of viewers. As a producer, Jonas is exceptionally prolific. His sophisticated, hardware-based style gives unusual and particular sounds a new life, morphing them into timeless dancefloor anthems filled with emotion and percussive energy. In 2018, Jonas co-founded electronic music imprint Radikon as a platform for like-minded artists. Based at his studio in the historic Funkhaus complex in Berlin, Radikon has become a collaborative epicenter with 20 critically acclaimed releases in its first two years alone. Jonas’ energetic live performance and singular brand of melodic house and techno has enthralled listeners and club-goers around the globe. Expression was definitely a burden to Awka as ordinary ways of communication just never seemed enough. As time went by, this need connect with others became an obsession and a search, in which digging new and old records could be a relief or a clue. By coincidence or fate, at the age of 15 Awka moved to Munich and got in touch with german electronic music culture, making the first contact with synthesizers and experimenting a whole new world of different music styles. A blended and unique cultural background was not the only result of this life and art experience. Finally, Awka found the means to reach out to others and to get his voice heard. It was clear the words were and couldn’t be enough as what was there to be said couldn’t be understood, but only felt.

Back to his home town, in Rio de Janeiro, Awka’s plans finally came out of paper as his career had it’s definitive start. After a few solo presentations, Awka formed the “Tenth Column” duo, which’s talent lead to the famous label party RIO ME residency and to performances on renowned gigs such as D-EDGE, Club 88, Warung Tour and RAWW X ROOM. On his current solo career Awka has been part of the crew that delivered the greatest electronic music carnival party ever seen in Rio - The “Bloco Ame”, also being a flashy name in Warung Closing Summer 2019, meeting Edu Schwartz, who would soon become his actual partner in starting his label: Words Not Enough.

Awka’s purpose is now fulfilled through his tracks and productions. On a new phase, his ways of connection are being reproduced by exponential labels such as Akbal Music, Lump Records, Pipe & Pochet, Seven Villas e Warung Recordings. Not to mention his 2 reinterpretations on the english band “Elder Island” tracks, which together sum up to 600.000 plays on spotify.

Adrian Flavor and Samy Jackson aka Animal Trainer present the next fantastic summer refresher exclusively here on Schirmchendrink: the Mezcal Mule!

The dynamic duo has become one of the hottest properties on the international circuit and represent the epitome of what Switzerland’s new generation of electronic artists has to offer.

Raised in a city with arguably the strongest club scene in Switzerland, Zurich, Animal Trainer made their name through a series of parties called ‘Rakete’, which still take place at the infamous Hive club. 

In 2008 Animal Trainer dropped their first release, ‘Talkshow’, which was followed by releases with some of the industry’s most influential labels; Defected, Poker Flat, mobilee, Einmusika, Katermukke and their own highly-regarded Hive Audio label among them. 

2013 saw the release of Adrian and Samy’s debut full-length album, titled ‘Wide’. Spread across 13 tracks, the LP demonstrated their maturity as artists, focusing on the dance floor, but also incorporating down-tempo cuts and collaborations with vocalists such as Jan Blomqvist and Jimi Jules. It was a resounding success, with widespread praise and leading publications such as Groove Magazine and Data Transmission weighing in with glowing reviews.

With each new release Animal Trainer push the boundaries of their sound, introducing subtle nuances, unforgettable hooks, emotive rhythms or enchanting melodies while retaining their own individual groove to keep the dance floor bubbling. 

In the years since their first release Animal Trainer have maintained a constant focus on high quality club music, staying relevant when others have followed the hype, and evolving into a force to be reckoned with. They are party boys who take their music very seriously, but are never serious themselves – it’s a winning combination that has kept them one step ahead and on a constant upwards trajectory. Whatever they do next you can be sure that it will be something special...so is this Mezcal Mule, by the way.

NWS : "Hey Vlady, it’s wonderful to welcome you to the family and be a part of the quick development of your Nopi project. 6 months ago, you released your first free download on Deep House Toronto – now you have signed your music on top tier upcoming labels like Pipe & Pochet, Sag & Tre, Dream Culture, Seven Villas and now also on Nie Wieder Schlafen. Where did you come from? Is this your first producer project, or have you been doing stuff under a different alias before? If not, what made you suddenly take this route of an electronic producer?"

Nōpi : "Hello there! Yes I actually had one other project before, with a heavier sound. At a certain point, I just wanted to change something and started experimenting with a lot more atmosphere. I think you can hear that, with this project!"


NWS : "Ukraine is your home. Is there a growing scene for the dreamy, melodic house you produce?  If not -  do you see potential? How has your country influenced you, in your artistical progress?"

Nōpi : "Unfortunately, I don't know too much, about the scene here. We  don't have many places to play this kind of stuff! The ukrainian crowd is quite picky, in my opinion. But I really hope this situation will change in the future and people will be more involved in this kind of music. I actually never really had any inspirations, but rather tried to focus on my own sound."


NWS : "The music scene has always been polarizing - it can be a wonderful network of caring people and an energy-consuming grasp for attention. What is it about the electronic music scene that has impacted/influenced your life for the better and what is frustrating for you about it?"

Nōpi : "The music scene has certainly changed my character for the better! I really don't like all these people in the scene, hunting for money and glory, because it absolutely kills the community."


NWS : "Digital or Analogue? Are you a lover of Vinyls and old techniques, or do you rather like to concentrate on the future?" 

Nōpi : .I think nothing can or will replace Analogue, because that's how it all started! I'm always trying to use some analogue stuff in my tracks, to make them warm and glowy."


NWS: "You are joining our „No More Sleep“ – series, which tries to present more insightful mixes of the artists, who join our label. Can you tell us a little bit about the music you included in your mix?"

Nōpi : "I always try to select the tracks I truly love. Playing and selecting music suits me best, I can really express my feelings I have in that particular moment. Yes, I really felt like including a moody, dub-techno intro to the mix and then follow it up with my more melodic sound! I think, it was a nice touch to ease in the listener and show another side".


NWS: "We are getting excited for your release – Tell us about your „The Forest“ EP – any stories you can share, while making these 2 originals?"

Nōpi : "It was a hectic production time, when I made these, so I have a hard time, picking something in particular, but I can say that I wanted to create a softer, airy atmosphere with "The Forest". On top, I wanted a loose and subtle piano in major key, to give it this mysty vibe. As a complement, "Daynight" was meant to be more straight forward and groovy!"


NWS : "Before we let you go, we always like to ask for your current top 5 picks of the moment! Thank you for joining us and we will be looking forward to your release! „The Forest“ will be available to purchase on June 17th."

Whether it’s looking out at the empty streets, getting back into meditation, or simply staying at home getting a full night’s sleep, there’s a certain stillness that I’ve come to appreciate. 3 QUESTIONS to MAGIT CACOON:

Q: Getting into the mood for your mix. Why did you choose these tracks and what do they still mean to you today?

A: This pack of tracks really meant something to me and left a mark on my soul, there are not a lot of tracks I can say that had an  influence on my musical journey. I feel they have touched me till this  day and still makes me a goosebump.

Q: How did you spend your off-time this year while lockdown and shutdown of our entire event industry?

A: To be honest I’m pretty much in the zone of production and very grateful that my studio is just near my home, I’m working on lots of music and that is the only good part on this pause, besides that it’s very hard for me with the entire situation of not being even able to fly to another country, go to gig and I really miss my friends around the world. I do feel sadness even though I consider myself a happy person. I’m  looking forward to getting a  vaccine and hope that the world will get back to some kind of normality.

Q: Which future projects are you currently working on?

A: I’m pleased to announce my new label ‘Mago Music’ will be featured on fab 2021 with the first release by me with a mega boombastic remix by my good friends Andy Bros and Einmusik. This will be the opening point of a lot of good music that i have been working on and got from very talented musicians and I feel 2021 will bring us light and togetherness, which is something that I feel we all miss.
