Produced off the back of a profoundly inspiring trip to his homeland last year, Luigi Madonna crafts the pin-sharp ‘Italian Shocks’ EP. The Amsterdam-based artist is a key Drumcode contributor, who runs the label off the back of last year’s well-received collaborative EP ‘Mad World’ with Roberto Capuano. 

The title track is brain-spangling, industrial and brilliant, characterised by a suspenseful narrative, which is typical of Madonna’s creativity in the studio. ‘This is the Future’ is crisp and rolling, an intelligent tool for every set. ‘Enveloping Times’ is punchy and hypnotic, an immense transcendental belter ready to be unleashed this summer. ‘Interfrequencies’ is an exhilarating rush to the head, as a killer bass synth and piston-like drums for a rave-ready finish.

Dutch legend and Wolfskuil inner circle member Benny Rodrigues returns to the label for a fresh twelve. In the DJ booth he has no equal and established himself as one of the world’s premier selectors. Besides his ominous DJ skills, Benny has been making waves in the studio the last couple of years as well. Wether it be as ROD or under his own name, respected imprints worldwide have embraced and released his productions with eagerness. Klockworks, CLR, Drumcode and Desolat are just a few of the labels he can call home now.

Wolfskuil wouldn’t be Wolfskuil if we didn’t pick the ‘odd one’ of the litter. The Choice Is Mine might be the most freaked out & modulated excersize Benny has yet to unleash upon the world. No 4 bars in this mental trip are the same, ever evolving around a sequence that brings old 90’s warehouse techno to mind. 

A peaktime monster like this deserves a royal rework. Berghain resident, Dystopian head honcho and man of the moment Rødhåd happily agreed to give his own and unique vision on the original. The result is stunning, psychedelic and with a little unexpected surprise in the final part of his remix and compliments the original in a perfect. Frankfurt native Michael Klein, aka Michael Koczynski, has been an integral part of the European techno scene for many years. His savvy sounds have been released via the likes of Cocoon, Second State and his BLK DRP since the turn of the century while always bringing heavy beats and intricate sound designs.

He opens up here with the mighty sounds of 'Introsuspect,' which pairs hefty low ends with spooky and sparse atmospheres up top. The bulky, gritty drums march onwards while wispy details and paranoid motifs ring out and keep dancers on their toes. Then comes the equally chunky kicks of 'Sirena' with coarse claps peeling off the groove, synths twisted into the beats and filthy basslines powering the whole thing forward with inescapable energy.

Another offering of high-class club music from the always consistent Rekids offshoot, Michael Klein’s ‘Introsuspect’ is released on 6th October on Rekids Special Projects.

For the next installment on Break New Soil, we are very excited to welcome two artists, who might be new additions to our label, but who are surely no new faces to the world of electronic music: André Galluzzi and Daniel Stefanik have both cemented their status as true musical innovators with a strong sense for details and sonic quality in their productions. The three original tracks showcase their signature sound, trippy on one hand but with both feet firmly on the dance floor! Radio Slave returns to his Rekids imprint for his first release of 2021, ‘Variations’.

Marking the first release of 2021, Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave turns in four thundering tracks loosely based around a common theme: his signature maximal minimalism mixed with classic dub techno aesthetics.

While his recent anthemic single ‘Live My Life’ displays Edwards’ knack for twisting vocal hooks into main room artillery, ‘Variations’ sees the Berlin-based producer head for room 2, showcasing Edwards ability for crafting devastatingly effective heads-y techno.

After releasing Robert Hood’s incendiary ‘Mirror Man’ LP towards the end of 2020, Rekids is showing no signs of slowing down for 2021. With this release highlighting an artist at the top of his game, ‘Variations’ adds yet another powerful and striking 12” to both the discography of one of electronic music’s most essential labels and one of its most lauded artists.

Over the course of the last three plus decades, the German born DJ, musician and composer Marc Romboy has become synonymous with a soulful electronic music sound that has taken him all over the world. As well as releasing on only the most influential labels, from Innervisions to Cocoon and Kompakt to Senso Sounds, he is also the sole mastermind behind the influential Systematic Recordings label and has been since 2004.

Nowadays an album specialist, 2006 saw him release his debut album, the captivating „Gemini" whilst in 2017 Marc released his first listening long player called „Voyage de la planète“, a pure electronica album with classical music influence and later, in summer 2017 the live recording of his collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra called „Reconstructing Debussy“, in cooperation with Boiler Room hit the stores.

Despite being a key player for so long, Marc is still as relevant as ever and remains right at the sharp end of electronic music. Proof of that comes in the form of his DJ schedule, which takes him from Fabric to Womb and Berghain to Rex, as well as to not one but three separate Boiler Room shows. All three proved Marc to be a dexterous performer who never relies on obviousness or gimmicks, instead telling truly musical stories that place dancers right at the heart of the action.
