Detroit Swindle – AKA – Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are back with their first new material in a year and it’s great!

The two have been making waves, particularly in the UK over the past month and it’s excellent to have them back in full swing. From bringing their own ‘Great Escape’ party to Leeds to performing an endearing set at Fabric on Valentines day, it seems like almost the perfect time to bring you an exclusive first listen to the pairs brand new ‘The Punch Drunk EP’

The extended play leads off with ‘Allright (We’ll Be)’ a feel-good slice of future-retro discoid filter vocal house. The Dutch duo have nothing to do with Detroit – or techno – but have crafted a track that plays like a classic Nervous or Strictly Rhythm soundtrack.

Second track ‘Pursuit’ is more of chuggy, deeper track enthusing smooth, melodic synth pads, deep, groovy low-end sounds and easy-listening piano chords.

The EP is set for release through the duo’s own label Heist Recordings on the 23rd February and will be available through all major music distribution sites.

After the legendary Nighttime World Volume 1 and Nighttime World Volume 2, we are proud to be able to present you the long awaited “Motor: Nighttime World 3” on Music Man.
Following recent Music Man albums from Petar Dundov ‘Ideas From The Pond’ and Marcel Dettmann’s ‘Conducted’ mix we now welcome one of Detroit’s finest, Robert Hood.

With ‘Motor: Nighttime World 3’ Robert Hood returns to the project he first started on Austria’s Cheap label back in 1995 and subsequently continued in 2000 on M-Plant. Fusing his trademark minimal techno into jazz inspired moods and inflections, Hood emerges from the smoke-lit shadows of a downbeat, but not beaten, Motor City metropolis. Inspired by Julien Temple’s documentary ‘Requiem For Detroit?’ Robert Hood examines the life, history and future of Detroit’s motor industry and its workforce, set against a backdrop of decay, despair, hope and re-birth.

As a first taster of the album we now present to you ‘Torque One’ (taken from the album) and an exclusive &amp; vinyl-only track to this 12”, called ‘Movement’. With this release, mister Hood delivers 2 timeless pieces of electronic music inspired by a jazzy, dreamy ‘Nighttime World’. Quality.

This is the first track released by renowned Scottish deep house producers Fresh & Low. It originally came out on DIY's Label Strictly 4 Groovers in 1995.

Interlude

Over the course of the last three plus decades, the German born DJ, musician and composer Marc Romboy has become synonymous with a soulful electronic music sound that has taken him all over the world. As well as releasing on only the most influential labels, from Innervisions to Cocoon and Kompakt to Senso Sounds, he is also the sole mastermind behind the influential Systematic Recordings label and has been since 2004.

Nowadays an album specialist, 2006 saw him release his debut album, the captivating „Gemini" whilst in 2017 Marc released his first listening long player called „Voyage de la planète“, a pure electronica album with classical music influence and later, in summer 2017 the live recording of his collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra called „Reconstructing Debussy“, in cooperation with Boiler Room hit the stores.

Despite being a key player for so long, Marc is still as relevant as ever and remains right at the sharp end of electronic music. Proof of that comes in the form of his DJ schedule, which takes him from Fabric to Womb and Berghain to Rex, as well as to not one but three separate Boiler Room shows. All three proved Marc to be a dexterous performer who never relies on obviousness or gimmicks, instead telling truly musical stories that place dancers right at the heart of the action.
