It’s amazing how musical creativity often finds in its most fertile breeding grounds in times and places of hardship and adversity. Destruction inevitably leads to creation and the human spirit is often most inspired during the rebuilding process. Look at Berlin for example, the reunification of the city which had suffered for so long quickly led to its establishment as one of the cosmpolitan and interesting places in the world. Could we see a similar movement emerge in Kosovo’s capital Prishtina? Long know around the world as a conflict hotspot and source of international tension Kosovo much like other Balkan states in recent years, appears to be finally making steps to put its past behind it and look to the future and one of the things which will no doubt be vital to this changing of image will be its vibrant music scene. At the vanguard of this is DJ and producer Sabb who has already forged a fierce reputation within the electronic music community releasing on some of the most respected and major underground labels such as Noir Music, Moon Harbour Recordings, Audiomatique Recordings, SK Supreme Records, Defected, Mood Music, FLASH and Great Stuff Rec to name but a few.

Within the last few months Sabb has been very busy in the studio remixing artists such as Pleasurekraft, Wally Lopez, Chris Lake, Carlo Lio, Saeed Younan, Wehbba, Gary Beck, Supernova and Hector Couto among others. Only a year after beginning his production career Sabb's first record release, ‘Dead Corps’, landed immediately on top 100 Beatport charts and was released on his own imprint, SK Supreme Records firmly marking him out as one to watch.  So with big plans for the year ahead we thought the time was right to welcome Saab to deliver the latest installment of our Mix Of The Day Series.

When we decided to release Chloroformd in 2013, we knew that it was gonna be a special one; the vocals were catchy and the synths were lush and simply outstanding. The record managed to squeeze itself into charts, clubs and hearts in the same measure. Now that some time as passed since its initial release, we felt it deserved a special rework. For this task we brought in two very special remix guests. First, comes Sicilian-export Paul Ursin, who has already collaborated with and remixed names like Simple Minds, Danny Tenaglia or Turntable Orchestra. 

His remix infuses the tech-factor into the original with an infectious bassline and driving beats, while cleverly working the original synths and vocals whilst slowly leading to a killer breakdown. Just the right amount of darkness, with extra slice of groove for those eager to see bodies shaking in the dancefloor. 

For the second rework, we got the talented duo Me & Her, already members of our family roster and owners of a unique talent when it comes to creating beats. Their version oozes of mistery and climates, a synth bassline growls and progresses all through the track while insane vocal arrangements send your mind on a trip.

We are happy to bring back some memories with this one.

Over the course of the last three plus decades, the German born DJ, musician and composer Marc Romboy has become synonymous with a soulful electronic music sound that has taken him all over the world. As well as releasing on only the most influential labels, from Innervisions to Cocoon and Kompakt to Senso Sounds, he is also the sole mastermind behind the influential Systematic Recordings label and has been since 2004.

Nowadays an album specialist, 2006 saw him release his debut album, the captivating „Gemini" whilst in 2017 Marc released his first listening long player called „Voyage de la planète“, a pure electronica album with classical music influence and later, in summer 2017 the live recording of his collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra called „Reconstructing Debussy“, in cooperation with Boiler Room hit the stores.

Despite being a key player for so long, Marc is still as relevant as ever and remains right at the sharp end of electronic music. Proof of that comes in the form of his DJ schedule, which takes him from Fabric to Womb and Berghain to Rex, as well as to not one but three separate Boiler Room shows. All three proved Marc to be a dexterous performer who never relies on obviousness or gimmicks, instead telling truly musical stories that place dancers right at the heart of the action.
