Just have found this legendary recording on my HD, my DJ set at "Picnic Electronik" in Montreal, more than four years ago! I remember an outstanding and wonderful time in Montreal with lots of crazy things happening with and around me. I just arrived from New York, where I played at "Love"! The DJ before myself swallowed a bee so that I had to begin earlier. At the end of my set a bee did pierce me as well, appr. at 1 hour 55min... At the end of the day I almost missed my return flight to New York too. The gate was about to close when I arrived there, with sweaty clothes, ha ha... Ah, and something else, I will soon release a Single called "Picnic electronique" with my dear friend Rodriguez Jr.! When we made the track I for some reason had to think of this day again... /// Btw, I don´t really remember the name of all traxx I played, please help me!

URB: How many years have you been coming to ADE? How has it evolved?

I have been there from the very beginning. I live only two hours away from Amsterdam by car, close to the German/Dutch border. In the beginning, ADE was a little convention, more of a family thing that took mainly place in the pub of the convention building (laughs). It was good fun, although I´m happy it has developed so well.

URB: What’s your fondest memory from the festival, or Amsterdam in general?

Amsterdam is one of the towns where I play the most. It has a very vital House and Techno scene and it´s actually the place where I bought my first dance music records back in the days, around 1990. A period of time when there were no record stores for this kind of music in Germany, believe it or not.

Marc Romboy URB Podcast (ADE Exclusive Mix)

Over the course of the last three plus decades, the German born DJ, musician and composer Marc Romboy has become synonymous with a soulful electronic music sound that has taken him all over the world. As well as releasing on only the most influential labels, from Innervisions to Cocoon and Kompakt to Senso Sounds, he is also the sole mastermind behind the influential Systematic Recordings label and has been since 2004.

Nowadays an album specialist, 2006 saw him release his debut album, the captivating „Gemini" whilst in 2017 Marc released his first listening long player called „Voyage de la planète“, a pure electronica album with classical music influence and later, in summer 2017 the live recording of his collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra called „Reconstructing Debussy“, in cooperation with Boiler Room hit the stores.

Despite being a key player for so long, Marc is still as relevant as ever and remains right at the sharp end of electronic music. Proof of that comes in the form of his DJ schedule, which takes him from Fabric to Womb and Berghain to Rex, as well as to not one but three separate Boiler Room shows. All three proved Marc to be a dexterous performer who never relies on obviousness or gimmicks, instead telling truly musical stories that place dancers right at the heart of the action.
