MARCUS BRIGSTOCKE Presents ‘UNAVAILABLE FOR COMMENT’

Making its debut at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe is a brand new topical improv show presented by Marcus Brigstocke. ’Unavailable For Comment’ will be performed daily throughout the Fringe at the Underbelly in Bristo Square at 2.40pm. 

Top comedy guests will be forced to answer for every failing in today’s society. Marcus' guests won't know who they are or what mistakes they'll be asked to defend until their Paxman-esque host makes it clear... Just like real guests on Newsnight and Question Time - they will have to improvise / bullshit their way out of trouble and they won’t be released until they do. Imagine the most toe-curling interviews you've ever seen on TV. Live, improvised, outrageous, libellous and utterly hilarious. Book early!

Boris Johnson speared through the chest by Eddie Mair…Michael Howard thrown to the lions by Jeremy Paxman…George Entwhistle crushed beneath John Humphries’ chariot of truth…Richard Nixon armed with a small net, beheaded by David Frost... What is it about seeing serious people destroyed in the public arena?

Every week we watch our political masters crumble before the best of television’s heavyweight journalists on Newsnight, Question Time and Loose Women. If you’ve ever had the feeling that the people on these programs are just making it up as they go along, you’re right. They have to. They don’t know what they’re going to be asked. They can’t switch sides or back down.  They can’t stop and they can never say ‘I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to that, please can I go home now?’

In ‘Unavailable For Comment’ Marcus will attempt to unravel his comedy guests in the same way. Just like Newsnight, the host knows what he’s talking about and none of his guests do. Marcus' guests won't know who they're playing or what mistakes they'll be asked to defend or conceal until their host makes it clear – often with hilarious and surprising outcomes.
