COOL ASS SONGS 15: There’s so many at this point

Way back in the stone age of digital composing, it was possible for one person to store a musical project in a tiny 500 KB file, send to to a different person halfway across the area code (because good lord dialing long distance was for madmen) and every note, sample and delicious pitch bend would be right there. Kinda neat when you think about it.

This track started its life at the desk of Radix / Mosaik / The One Of Several Names, whose creations have always blown my socks off with their restrained glee and wonder. The man builds miracles just because he can, and doesn't show off -- in stark contrast to myself, whose first instinct on this collab was to add horns, MORE DRUMS and a timbale solo. Of course he was right in humbly suggesting we dial that shit down a notch, and so the track was released unto the world.

With permission from Radix, then, here it is in its restored glory. And the timbale solo is back.

[Story]
	In the depths of the reactor, Kirby is entrapped in a glass prison, wondering what exactly the Dreadlanders are doing here. “Why haven’t they attacked earlier? We’ve never come in contact with them before, have we?” he thought to himself. “More importantly, why did Poe betray us?” This final thought troubled Kirby. The one who he thought was his friend throughout the entire adventure seems to have laid a trap that he and his cohorts fell for…

	Just then, a vent on the opposite side of the room shutters open… It's… Poe?! “Kirby! I- I’m sorry… I didn’t know mo- er… the Queen would trap you guys like that. I’ve come to break you out!” Kirby is stunned! Poe was our friend all along! He blasts the glass cage open! “No time to waste, Kirby. We’ve got to go meet up with your friends and stop this!”

	King Dedede, Bandana Dee, and Meta Knight are nearing the heart of the great machine. They’ve searched every room, and finally have come to what seems like to be the lair of the Queen. “Still no Kirby to be found,” says Bandana Dee to the group. “There's only one place left, then. This room, right here.” They push the two large doors open.

	The Queen resides on her throne in the center of the large room, the ceiling opening up to the sky miles above them. She’s staring daggers at our three heroes. “So, you’ve made it past my henchmen.” The Queen slowly emerges from her throne, wielding a gargantuan blade. “Big mistake.” Just then, the pink puffball and his friend fall from above…
	Everyone is here. Time for the Defenders of Dreamland’s last stand. Let’s take down this tyrannical reign, once and for all!

Battle Against the Dreadland Queen - Kirby: Defenders of Dreamland OST

Here are a couple of tracks I was commissioned to create for someone's Twitch stream. I've used these to double as the first in my new 'BEAT$' series, which will consist of any commissioned work that I'm given permission to release on streaming services, etc. I hope you enjoy this couple of new bops!

[NOTE]: You'll notice perhaps that both of these tracks run a bit on the long side. This is because, as the tracks were requested to be 'loopable' I wanted to showcase that loop transition at least once within the track, without the listener having to load the track in a way that loops it indefinitely somehow.

[NOTE]: Also 'Nasty Plot' is totally a reference to the Attack of the same name from Pokémon.

	Traversing the inner workings of Popstar and following the husk of Poe’s mom, Kirby and his friends finally reach where the enigma has been leading them. The Queen's body is slouched in a throne of thorns, surrounded by tar-black hands. A single, white eye looms above her. She begins to speak, her voice twisted and dissonant.

	“Persistent, you lot are… I’ve been locked away for too long.” Kirby and his friends are on guard. “I have one visitor in a millennia, and can't even make friends with her… the poor, poor soul.” “Give me my mom back!” shouts Poe to the monster before him. “Ohohoho, my dear son. It’s time you know your place.” Kirby pulls Poe back, guarding him from what is about to happen. The Queen of Dreadland isn’t here anymore. All that lies is a rage for destruction.

	The Queen's eyes bulge open, pale white. Two massive pale blades emerge from her back, black hands wielding them. What does our team do? Do we destroy the once beloved parent and ruler, or let it run rampant on Popstar, no, the universe! It’s time for battle, whether our friends like it or not…
