Years after we discovered him on the legendary Kaometry Records (and later on Open Outlets and Billegal Beats), the meticulous weird beat crafter is back with us with seven new journey into electronic music and a well crazy remix by none other than Beatwife !

Expect the usual intricate broken rhythms, detailed and well crafted melodic landscapes and an overall sens of attention to details running across the whole thing.

Disquiet Junto Project 0691: Un-Ravel
The Assignment: Make a recording of a string quartet fall apart.

I took the liberty of picking out a passage that I really liked. The idea was to free the sound itself from the string quartet (but not from the recording medium). Did I really unravel the piece? I doubt it. I will certainly burn in hell for this offence against Ravel.

Disquiet Junto Project 0692: Combust a Move
The Assignment: Make music using fire for the rhythm track.

While tidying up unfinished tracks I stumbled upon a somehow phasered pad that I liked very much and for which I have long forgotten what I once did it for and how. I did not want to delete it, but I was not able to do something with it either. The unruly sound simply rejected all my attempts to add something. But as much as I liked for itself (even in its original lenght of around 20 minutes) I wanted to do more with it. Then I was tidying up my mails and found the disquiet junto prompt. I downloaded a fireplace and added it to the pad - and I liked it. There was some optimizing, like the fireplace goes thru a gater (adding a slightly straight rhythm) and there is a decrackle plugin set to "output crackle only" (to reduce the noise without loosing the high frequencies), and there is a smoking person in the room.

Blending guitar and synth elements with unique vocal stylings, Marcus Knapp makes music that blurs the line between indie rock and dream pop, containing elements of downtempo electronica, industrial, as well as psychedelic and progressive rock. The music is introspective, cerebral, and poetic, often grappling with complex emotions. Marcus has produced music since the early 2000s, and released their first album, Dream Sequence 7, in January of 2020. They are presently recording a follow up album. Marcus is also compiling a portfolio of more cinematic music and is interested in scoring independent film or video games.
