In the two years since his last original outing on the label, the unforgettable “Beautiful Life”, Martin Roth has developed his deep hypnotic sounds on labels like Poesie Musik and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat. He returns to Anjunadeep with “Mel / Maya”, two dark, techno influenced gems showcasing Martin’s ear for spellbinding club music.

“Mel” is a surging monster of a track, driven by huge rumbling low end beneath subtle swirling melodies. Combining dark, techy elements with classic progressive textures, “Mel” is a fine example of the current underground sound in Martin’s hometown of Berlin.

A stand out on Anjunadeep 06, “Maya” is another moody piece of house music, primed for a 4AM dancefloor. Big thudding percussion masks a gentle melody that ebbs and flows into an epic breakdown, packed full of atmospheric rising pads.

On remix duties are two emerging talents Peter Pardeike and Whomi. Tackling “Mel” is Whomi, who has made waves recently with impressive remixes of Ultraista and Soul Button. He takes a minimal approach, building from murky beginnings into an incredible crescendo throughout the breakdown. A serious dancefloor weapon in the right hands!

Following a hugely supported release on Innervisions with Marcus Worgull, fellow Berliner Peter Pardeike turns his hand to “Maya" in distinctive fashion. Stripping back to focus on bassline and piano, the track takes a leftfield turn into arpeggio territory. Another memorable moment on a highly anticipated comeback EP.

Martin Roth - Mel (Whomi Remix)

16 Bit Lolitas aka Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock have re-emerged in the past 12 months as a real production powerhouse, with two hugely successful EPs on Anjunadeep. After picking up big support from the likes of Pete Tong, Tensnake and Sasha with the anthemic ‘Deep In My Soul’ and ‘Beat Organ’, the Dutch duo are back with another heavy hitting three track EP.

Title track ‘Not The Only One’ is an infectious end of night roller, carried by warm heavy low-end, mysterious vocal loop and delicate melodic textures. ‘End Is Near’ is a more energetic but equally subtle affair, growing in intensity as it progresses to a rousing finale of bass stabs and swirling, atmospheric keys. Closing off the EP is the more mellow ‘I’ll Be True’, which combines washing Balaeric melodies with a funk-infused groove to brilliant effect.

We feel thrilled to bring on one of our most loved artists here on the label, as the Spanish giant Alex Vidal join us again, this time with a smooth, deep and progressive original. He’s been with us in the past for a couple of times, but this is his first appearance on original. This one, is another well designed production from him, with all those creative and evolving layers of sounds, bringing that superb depth and mysterious feel on.

On remix duty, we see a great blend of artists, some brand new on the label, some returns to our home of deep grooves. First out is a new constellation on PHW Elements, but definitely not on the scene, as we see Dutch based duo of Rogier & Stage Van H taking their first steps on the label. We are of course happy to see them being interested in our label, and joining forces with us. They bring on a full plethora of sounds, and bring a bit of magic to the release with their well selected sounds that bring both edge and quality to the release.

Next up is is another debut on the label, as we see the Russian Golubev brothers joining us with their Magnetic Brothers alias. They have been a solid duo on the scene for several years, and they are once more showing why that’s the case. With a great drive and bouncing elements, they bring on a rather tasty interpretation that we would recommend to everyone, with a good ear for the deeper progressive vibes. It’s energetic and hypnotic with a massive flow, we love it. 

The 3rd remix, and the one closing the package comes from a returning artist that we believe fly have a great career ahead with his incredible sound design and forward thinking style. We of course talk about the Russian phenomenon, Smokeless Soul. He delivers a more melodic re-take with superb textures, a more feel good vibes and this is one that we've been dying to get out to all of you, it’s class from start to finish!
