This is my remix of the Cha Cha Slide. I have done this mix before live while DJing however it is a lot harder because of all the pieces. I'm pleased to say this is more than what I wanted to record while mixing because there are so many complicated parts that I could not do while DJing live. The mashup is the original cha cha slide with an instrumental of the bum-diggity soca beat. In order for me to do this, I had to use my turntables to go through a session what I would like to do with the two then I started from scratch using Ableton and used my memory to reconstruct and add effects to this track. With this final project, I wanted to highlight all of my Études in a creative way so I had wrote a poem based on my Études and the journey I made throughout the summer. The sounds I heard, the connections I had made and in the end realizing that through this course I have become a more versatile DJ. I was taught a new skill in each assignment that caused my ears to be more adaptable to music and sound. In addition comfortable with using more music software. My goal was to allow the reader to get a trailer on what goes on in my head, musically. This piece is an appropriated piece influenced by Nourbese Philips piece about the origination of speech. I chose to work with Jazz because it is a genre that I appreciate and I felt that I could possibly make a piece that mirrors the characteristics of Philips.
