Vampires & Informers is back for more blood, remastered with new versions and a megamix. Subatomic Sound (NYC) teams up with People’s Records (Kingston, JA) for the first in a series of releases bringing together top Jamaican artists with top electronic producers worldwide. Kicking off with an extra loud bang, is the “Vampires & Informers” release, a rare look at Elephant Man, one of the world’s top dancehall artists, vocally delivering a ferocious portrait of Jamaica’s "vampire" politicians, "bloodsucking" informers, and the "military society" of the ghetto youths. 

Originally a top selling limited edition 7" vinyl recorded with Sly & Robbie back at Kingston’s Black Scorpio studios, here is “Vampires & Informers” resurrected and completely re-imagined with producers Subatomic Sound System, Dubblestandart, Stereotyp, Liondub, Ming (of Ming&FS), David Last, Taal Mala & Kush Arora just in time for today's vampire-loving, blood-thirsting, electronic-obsessed youths to lose their minds at raves, political protests, revolutionary activities, block parties and dancehalls around the globe.

Appropriately nicknamed “The Energy God”, Elephant Man delivers his signature hyper-charged style over completely unexpected riddims that deftly pair the dancehall king with sounds like bass blasting dubstep, dirty barefoot dancehall, future roots reggae, and even dub. 

The cover art by artist Angelo Gastelum plays tongue in cheek on the hyper-real blood splatter of Japanese horror films and the latest first person shooter video games, a reverent update to the comic book, scary movie style used on classic dub reggae albums by the likes of Scientist.

Still on the rampage after a year on the Wanted posters, the Chopstick posse returns bigger and badder with more deadly shots to wake the town . With nine new horses the bounty continues to rise, as more hardened musical outlaws join the gang. Mr. Williamz & Top Cat ride in with another full clip from usual suspects Aries & Jacky Murda, Worldwide Travellers who just returned from another cheap flight that the promoter paid for with his life .. Gold Dubs dares any witness to come forward and Tell Mi Who. Dope Ammo licks another shot as Williamz makes them know who indeed is the Girls Dem Dada. Marcus Visionary’s ganja-fueled spliff-shooter appears seemingly simultaneously All Over Town, while imported English cowboy King Yoof asks the timeless Shakespearean question: Have You Ever?. Dreadlocked outlaw Tuffist joins Austrian gunman Max Powa alongside the west-country’s most-wanted, J Man, burning down saloons and speak-easys till the people fill the streets and Holla Fi We.. K Jah’s message at the gallows in town square lets everybody know exactly why Chopstick is still Wanted and searched on the streets. Finally King’s Hifi takes the control center as Williamz and King Kong explain why lawmen who hunt the posse are bound to experience a Rumble Jumble Life. Chopstick Dubplate shot the sheriff and the deputy, so it’s murda they charged for… musical murda!

Dia De Muertos. A dry flinty wind blows tumbleweeds along the dusty street like a pack of lazy dogs. The hangman rides his thirsty horse into the border town of La Calavera, as deserted as a cemetary in the afternoon heat. Everyone knows of the notorious gang of gundoleros known as the Chopstick Posse, and his fee will be large. He walks across to the inn. The Sheriff’s relief is obvious as he hands the silver and a bottle of local mezcal to the hangman. He reaches inside his shirt and pulls a leather pouch off his neck, extracting a heavy antique key on a brass chain, and leaves it on the table. Glancing once more at the hangman, he takes back the tequila and leaves quickly. The hangman shrugs, signals for another bottle, and rolls a cigarillo from his pouch of green mexican..
Hours later, after the blood-red glow of the setting sun has faded from the sky, the hangman turns the key in the darkness and pushes open the rusty door. He holsters his pistol, and his cockney accent filters through the haze. “you alright?”. Another English voice replies from the corner “We’re just about outta spliff mate” , continued by an American - “but not outta bullets”. The room chuckles. Seven of Mexico’s most wanted gundoleros, one crowded stucco cell, and a haze of dank smoke. The metallic clacking sound of guns loading fills the darkening room, as the glowing cigarillos are
crushed out one by one. “Shall we wake the Sheriff?”

I heard this track on Gavin Jungle Junkee RockUnsteady podcast 'For Her'. The track had personal meaning for me and I knew I had to have it in my sets! Since then I've remixed 9 of the tracks including an instrumental version all on the Moving Riddim. (Liondub) Erik Wise contacted Di Genius in Jamaica and before you know it we have a Toronto, Brooklyn to Jamaica release forthcoming on Liondub International in association with Big Ship and Di Genius records! 2013 is off to a great start..
