Clean Bandit "Rather Be" (The Magician Remix)

Moving dance floors since the age of fifteen, South African producer and DJ Cuebur has teamed up with velvet voiced singer Vikter Duplaix to bring you ‘I See You’ on Soul Heaven. Without a doubt the tour de force in ‘I See You’ are the silky Casanova vocals by Duplaix, which make slow nods to the bedroom and 90’s RnB. The original mix explores the tender side of house music, effortlessly interweaving pillowy 808 toms with dim lit synth stabs, while the energetic remix by Andre Lodemann displays the producer’s abilities to create dazzling dance floor music. Together the two versions are sure to shift the spotlight towards Cuebur and the South African house movement within the international dance music scene.

The A&R's at King Street / Nite Grooves were suitably impressed with our O&A output this past few years, so we were asked to remix an all out classic and personal favorite, Kerri Chandler's 'Bar A Thym'.  Of course we were happy to oblige! 

We tried a few different approaches to the remix. As the lead sound is so dominant we decided to leave it intact and add some new layers. Then there was the 'Cowbell yes or no?' question... That was a yes (but with a different programming)! Then we just finished it with our signature O&A jackin rhythm sections.... et voila! 

So play this one LOUD & PROUD as it's a killer! ;)

Northern England based Outcross Records bring you ‘The Break Out’ EP this November by Inland Knights backed with a remix from label heads MAM (Miguel Campbell & Matt Hughes).

Inland Knights have been heavily involved with electronic music since the early 90’s, building an enviable reputation through their ‘Smokescreen’ free parties in that era and later starting the reputable Drop Music imprint which over the years has seen support from the likes of Luke Solomon, Phil Weeks, Laura Jones and Lee Foss, evidently showing the diverse appeal embodied in their music.

‘Bounce’ opens the release here and in true Inland Knights fashion storms in with a raw shuffling rhythm. A gritty, penetrating saw wave bass hook is thrown into the mix and the duo’s signature hip-house vocal chops create their own melody on top of the track’s sturdy foundations. The latter stages introduce hypnotizing filtered arp lines and sweeping house synths to the hub of the track, adding further melodic movement and rounding the piece off as classy, retro inspired house music with a forward thinking appeal.

Tapesh & Dayne S - Your Love (Defected)

Having previously unearthed and showcased plenty of new school talent like Chamboche, Bonar Bradbury and A/Jus/Ted, Under The Shade turn to two hot house properties in the form of Ben Pearce and Real Connoisseur for their next release – a split EP of one original and one remix from each artist.
You probably already know the name Ben Pearce from ‘What I Might Do’, his oddly anthemic deep-house debut that dominated club floors across the world in 2012. Here he is in similar form with ‘Just Enough’ – a dark and studiously moody house cut that brews and stews for the duration with almost hymnal pads, smooth and buried deep kick drums and just the slightest traces of classicism in the repeated male vocal
clip. Light-fingered drum fills and carefully, scale riding melodies add depth and space and this one is likely to be as big as his debut.
Remixing the track is Real Connoisseur, a 20 year old from Oxford with releases on labels like Purp & Soul already under his belt. His version stands more upright with sharp and slinky percussion bringing a deep garage vibe the track. What will most standout for clubbers, though, is the mangled and spangled bassline that ripples through the track come the mid point Floor slaying stuff for sure.
And so to his original track, ‘Nobody’s Fool’, it’s an elastic and bombastic deep house cum bass music hybrid with precise bass notes patting out the rhythm and kinetic drum hits churning in its midst. A euphoric, hands in the air vocal sample bursts through a various points as the bassline bobbles along below and the production is both rich and warm, infused with a neon glow and crafted for maximum damage, you suspect.
Pearce returns the remix favour and tweaks it into a more peak time, punchy house jam with well placed vocal snippets accentuating the kick of the drums. It’s easy to see why Pearce won so many fans early on, and this EP suggests Real Connoisseur isn’t far behind him.
