"The Disco Fiend Club mix series powered by the Nocturnal Hazard record label returns with it's second mix with a very special guest, music friend and forthcoming artist of our record labels Hiatt DB from the Razor N Tape and Rhythm Section fame. The Texan young gun is a fearless DJ, music producer and record collector characterized for his mature taste for music playing and producing top-notch spaced-out discofied stuff with remarkable adult oriented rock and balearic influences on his music productions and DJ sets. He also runs his own edit label Discognosis that recently released it's first record including four solid disco cuts edited by the man himself. We're pleased to have two forthcoming edits produced by Hiatt on our main record label Nocturnal Hazard and on it's new sub-label Psychic Disco for it's first V.A four-track debut release. For this occasion, Hiatt provided us an one hour mix with a outstanding balearic discofied music selection of peak-time hidden gems including his forthcoming tune on our forthcoming Psychic Disco label and also his stuff released on his own imprint back in April of this year. Idle Cellars is back & our latest mix is from the Bay Area’s Dub Disco Dons 40 Thieves! Our hometown heroes are faves of Harvey and Weatherall alike, with releases for labels like Rong Music & Permanent Vacation, including their massive hit covering Hot Chocolate’s “Don’t Turn It Off”! Well-known for having a sporadic release schedule, our Thieves landed at Leng Records for the past decade or so and we can expect some new music from the boys coming soon!

For this mix they’ve pulled out all the stops for a tour-de-force of all the delectable things that makes a Thief a Thief - stripped-down Paradise Garage-brand disco and boogie jams, secret Italo groovers, chuggy slo-mo bangers and more, viewed through the hazy lens of Dub - always a smokers’ delight! Considered a bon vivant, a football pundit, and a musical polymath, our second selector hardly needs an introduction. When it comes to the world of music journalism, DJing, music history and taste, Bill Brewster is our guy! A massive record collector from age 10, Bill’s initial passion for the Punk Rock movement eventually got him into the world of dance music, which he had a go for and turned into a living, documenting it through his writing and eclectic DJ sets. 

Brewster's deep understanding of music and DJ culture led him, along with his all-time best buddy Frank Broughton, to publish ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’. Regarded as an essential work on the subject, the book explores the origins of the DJ, from radio to the dance floor, providing a comprehensive exploration of memorable moments and the impact of the disc jockey.

A devotee of good gatherings, Bill has played everywhere—from his own mythical Low Life parties, encompassing two decades of friendships and memories, to Boiler Room sets and many magical Houghton Festivals. Always with a hip-loosening attitude toward the crowds, he masterfully crafts genre-fusing sessions from his vast collection of rarities, spanning intimate disco funk to obscure house.

For this occasion, he put together a mix full of jams dug from the Revibed vault that will take you for spin across decades and sensations. We were able to catch up with him to see how life is going, hear from his recent projects and insightful opinions about all things music.

For the next instalment of our Record Club Mix series we’re honoured to be passing the baton to one of Brazil’s finest DJs, @milloskaiser.

Born and raised in Niterói, near Rio de Janeiro, Millos moved to São Paulo in his early twenties and has been DJing and collecting records for almost two decades. You may recognise his name as formerly one half of the DJ duo and party series, Selvagem, the man behind the Onda de Amor compilation on Soundway Records, or through his various several edits and remixes. Having played more than 1000 parties/festivals, both underground and big league, he knows a thing or two about how to make people move and for the last 5 years has also been running Caracol, a music bar/club in São Paulo. 

“For a change, I've decided to focus solely on new stuff: Brazilian productions and recent releases that sound heavily Brazil-influenced for my ears. I'm probably most known for digging out hidden and forgotten gems but this time decided to do a mix exclusively with music from the present that has been on heavy rotation on my sets. I love all these tracks and have been playing them A LOT for the last year or so. There's stuff from Phil Mison's Cantoma project, an Italian cover-not-cover of Sandra de Sá, João Selva, a Portuguese remix of indie Brazilian band O Terno, a recent collaboration I did with Gabto (one of my favorite producers in the world), one unreleased joint from myself together with Gaspar Muniz,  another remix one he did with Beno for Banana Gold Records y mucho más. The mix was recorded at Caracol, on a dry and hot afternoon (despite being winter here) with Pioneer CDJs and an Isone420 mixer.” 

Big thanks to Millos for the mix, he will be playing for the first time in Canada and Japan in October and is soon to be releasing his first original music on Planet Trip Records.

Razor n Tape head honcho JKriv kicks things off with a seriously loose and funk-heavy groove that hits as hard as a mango caipirinha at dawn. While over on the flip, Joutro Mundo puts stars in our eyes with his deep and hypnotic Brasilian vibes.

Community, music label and event company based in São Paulo. Mareh Music originated in 2003 from its namesake festival on Boipeba-Island, Bahia. Ever since it has been standing out due to its musical curatorship and special attention with its audience, thusly acquiring admirers all over the world.  Besides that, the Label is running other projects as the bimonthly Babel urban parties that take place in the rooftops of the most incredible locations and Marisco Festival, that the mission is to provide the connection between Brazilian and international groove. Along with the acclaimed festivals Mareh has also released EP’s from reputed artists attracting the specialized critics. Within its releases it’s valid to point out the 10″ dedicated to tropical disco edits by the independent label Barefoot Beats.
