There is something primordial about the drums and I’ve always been drawn to that tribal sound, whether it be techno, NRG, psytrance, hard-house, progressive or world music .
This was recorded just before The Depot closed in 2004 and includes some of the best tribal tracks I could find squashed into one hi-energy mix - classics like Trommelmaschine, Played Alive (The Bongo Song), Mayhem In Miami and Techno-State plus lesser known gems of the era. 2004 was a seminal year for psytrance and although this was recorded for the Ripsnorter crowd, you can hear the psy influences creeping in towards the end of the mix.
