The Norwegian fall comes along really quickly, after a way-to-short summer, and goes as fast as it came. Short as it may be, it still is a beautiful season. Colours of trees, from red to brown and beige, covering the forest grounds everywhere. 

This composition tries to depict the speed of the Norwegian fall, and also the bright mood people tend to have after a nice, but short, summer.

Høst

A melody that's been on my mind for a couple of years. Inspired by nordic folk music and bluegrass/folk-tradition i finally made an arrangement i was happy with. Instruments i used in the recording:

With the harshness of Norwegian winters spring comes along as a soft breeze, with temperatures almost exceeding the summer a few years. Spring in Norway is fantastic, and all sorts of flowers and trees blossom. 

This composition is meant to share the feeling spring awakens in a Norwegian, and it is perhaps not that different from how other countries perceive the season.

With this composition i tried to paint a sound image of the Norwegian winter. The weather gets really cold here, so warm clothes and fireplaces are at the center of our life during the winter season.  

The recording was made in my flat, using only a Zoom H2N recorder as both microphone and audio interface, but was expertly mixed and mastered in Rome by a good friend and amazing musician. 

The instruments used for this recording are: 

 - Acoustic guitar (Martin D28 Marquis Sunburst ca. 1997)
 - Mandolin (Fender F 63SE)
 - Ukulele (Leho Aleho Concert Ukulele)
 - Classical guitar (Unknown)

Playing along with me is Idar Eliassen Pedersen, a great friend and almost even better trumpet player. We spent less than 30 minutes to capture the sounds created, and I was so glad i gave him a call. Just the right sound, with lines i could never create myself.

Vinter

The Norwegian summers are the best, especially in the south. The average temperature rarely hits the 20's (Celsius, that is), and we may not be blessed by the same climate as our Southern European friends. But we sure do appreciate our short summers, and we try to hold on to the feeling as long as possible. 

This composition tries to describe the feeling of a typical Norwegian summer. I just couldn't express that feeling without some strings, and thankfully my good friend and outstanding violinist friend Halvor Aasen helped me out. Halvor not only composed and arranged the string section, but also handled most of the recording session and contributed to the melodic composition.
