After first appearing on MRG010, Czech artist Exhausted Modern is back on Marguerite Records with a solo EP called “Deform | Reform”.
A side opens up with the dreamy electro-ish “Giving form to chaos”, followed by the high tension ambient-techno cut “The self unselving”; A3 is a trippy oddball slow-tempo jams called “Old disguises”.
B side unwraps with “De creatura” and “Riddles of creation”, respectively on B1 and B2: the Endless Illusion boss crafted two ambient cuts characterized by haunting soundscapes, weird voices cut ups and deep basslines.
The title track ”Deform _ Reform” closes the EP in a Sabres of Paradise-esque manner with a communion of dub and industrial rhythmics and patterns.

After the legendary French Ethno-industrial group Vox Populi! faded into obscurity in the early 1990s, members Arash Khalatbari, Ariel Kyrou, Axel Kyrou, Chester Harlan, Mithra, Pierre Jolivet and Francis Manne all embarked on new artistic adventures in their own way. Some, like bassist Francis Lafont aka fr6 Manne, aka Kosa Nostra, aka Kosa and Friends, left Paris to make a profound change in his life. He settled in Lyon and traded his job as a graphic artist and musician for that of a landscape designer. From his pure artistic universe, he has never stopped making music. Alone or with others, he follows his sound inspirations, multidisciplinary, already present on the label Vox Man records, founded in 1982 with Axel Kyrou. Together, as early as 1984, they started publishing the famous "Audiologie" compilations, an audio fanzine presenting a contemporary point of view on the experimental, noisy and avant-garde electronic music scene of the time. In particular, the three "Alterntative Funk" compilations that have become collector's items for fans of weird and ambitious electronic music.

Today, Notte Brigante presents "Kosa and Friends 1987/97", twelve previously unreleased recordings that illustrate Francis Laffont's ongoing musical creation following the dissolution of the group Vox Populi! With the music and video collective "Kosa and Friends," he welcomes attentive listeners into an eccentric world of pop and poetry, experimentation and groove. Kosa blurs the lines between proto funk and post punk, indus and cold wave, all steep and intriguing sonic territories among which Francis and his collaborators navigate endlessly.
The cover of the record is an "action painting" by fr6 Manne. A collage which underlines the experimentalism of the music by a crossed and unique composition. This cover reminds us of fr6 Manne's graphic work, which has appeared on many album covers (Vox Populi, Bain Total) and compilations (notably Audiologie, released in 1988, accompanied by his fanzine named Ethniques Urbaines).

Through an audacious collection of sounds and visions, this album testifies and documents the unexplored universe of a visionary musician of the French avant-garde and his peer group.

Zurich based DJ and producer Don Kashew delivers a dark dystopian journey that begins with the search for his sound from 2017 to 2021. Reflective and danceable, dark and united with melancholy an adequate follow up from his previous release on Subject To Restrictions Discs. This release is limited to 50 copies.

Between the Zuri brannt riots and the Needle Park catastrophe, two events that occurred in the eighties in Zurich and that have been underlined in the previous two DDP releases, have unfortunately backlashed in today’s world yet have also been sublimated by others in various cultural endeavours.

On a different note: “The edible seed of the cashew fruit is native to tropical climates that is rich in tryptophan, a neurochemical that our bodies turn into serotonin.”

These two subject matters, seemingly unrelated, have been channelled into one person — coinciding to make room for relief from a transformed dystopian-like era. Found from this dark period is a modern-day character that brings to the surface these once very present issues. The music and topical form that occur within this release have been created by Don Kashew, a self-described troubadour who acts as a supplier of your favourite natural antidepressant as well as an eternal fanboy to music from the past, present and future.

Don Kashew can be found either helping the Zurcher community or spinning records regularly in der Kern. The anecdotal form that this edition takes shape is the fact that Don is a city council whose department is to aid in the organisation of the clean up from the consequences of the aforementioned sociological issues. Don Kashew refutes these questions with sounds that evoke feelings of longing for another world captured in a modern time. Don Kashew’s music also refers to the irony of capitalistic studies and of the monotonous dullness that life presents. With these two aspects, merged together in a swirl, the music within this release is at the time whimsical and ironic, mature yet underlined with childlike humour. This compilation of past works is a reflection of Don’s sound development, affected through time and change, environment and empathy, diligence and insouciance, carefully packaged and influenced by his creative procedure.

Phase Group continue their exploration of the fringes of contemporary electronic music with a release that brings together two separate projects born from analogue hardware improvisations. 

‘A Given Moment’ presents the dub-laden, mind-bending and noise-driven music of Brussels-based artist and Vastechoses label head Lostsoundbytes, and the lo-fi, early morning lysergic experiments of Lowspace, an unearthed, forgotten collaborative project by French DJ and musician Low Bat and Dresden-based producer Heninspace.

This is music that takes you deeper into the vortex, made for dark and smoke-enveloped clubs and cosmic day-break afterparty moments. On the A-side, Lostsoundbytes continues his prolific output of masterfully crafted bass-heavy and dub-wise analogue machine jams, while the B-side presents two lost psychotropic experimental recordings by Lowspace made in 2016 upon a visit by Low Bat to Heninspace’s Dresden studio.

6 track full album LP by Fashion Flesh aka John Talaga from Michigan. He is known for his “off the grid” approach to music and has solo releases on great labels such as Unknown Precept, Jacktone and Fit/Est. 83’ Records.

Most all of the instruments used to perform and produce are self-built electronics, oscillators, generators, sound toys, and modulators. Those that are not built from one's own design are heavily modified beyond audible recognition or return. No sampling/stolen sound is ever used or sucked from outside pre-existing sources. 

No laptops, instead tape manipulation and hard copy cut-ups...analog devices that are built for specific purpose and dis-purpose.

"Rubber Mountain" is Fashion Flesh's first full LP and the first solo album we've released on Black Lodge. 6 tracks of mutant mayhem, spanning from odd italo-disco flavors, to no-wave, post-punk, jakbeat, and experimental sounds from the beyond.
