THE MOUNTAIN

Hailing from the beautiful town of Sandeid in the western part of Norway, Maria Toresen moved to Stavanger to pursue her passion for music. The past year she has been seen on the stages of many festivals and at the showcase-festival Sørveiv this past November.

Her single “The Mountain” has been listed on local radio and has been played frequently on the Norwegian radio channel P13.

Her music is characterized by mesmerizing vocals, beautiful harmonies, melodic antics combined with touching ‘on the spot’ lyrics. She sways between the genres of pop, folk and Americana, with references to artists like Ane Brun, First Aid Kit , Agnes Obel and Laura Marling. 
Every song has it`s own story, and as a live artist she performs them with great empathy and devotion, captivating her audience.

Maria Toresen is a true indie artist. She releases everything on her own label and let herself inspire from various genres and artists like Agnes Obel, First Aid Kit and Bon Iver.

Her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Birds Don’t Tell’ received reviews comparing her to Susanne Sundfør (HA, 19.11.2015) and her single “The Mountain” was listed on Radio 102 as well as doing turns on the Norwegian radio channel NRK P13.
