I remember being about 8 or 9 years old when I started to teach myself how to play piano. I learned by ear, just like my father had. We grew up painfully poor, but still managed to keep instruments around. I remember my fingers wanting to dig themselves into anything creative. From piano keys, to guitar strings, from watercolor tubes, to garden tools… to even getting my finger stuck under the needle of a sewing machine and burning my hands on the the stove. The scars are still there. I placed in science fairs. I acted in a few plays, I ran track, and was a competitive cheerleader. I wanted to do anything and everything as long as it meant I could stretch my creative fingers.

From state to state, my music followed me and pulled me though some of the worst moments of my life. Because the melodies and lyrics are so much apart of me, it took me a painfully long time to start sharing it with people. But when I started, I couldn’t stop. I became addicted to the feeling people gave me when they would tell me “I’ve felt like this, but didn’t know how to put it into words. Thank you.” Knowing that my troubles aren’t any different than someone elses, knowing we connect on a level that is always hard to explain, makes putting my vulnerability on the line so worth it.

I taught myself how to play the ukulele in the spring of '10 and played my first show a few months later. While I count the number of times I've played in front of a crowd on one hand, the response has been incredible. Thank you so much.

I am currently recording my first demo one year after my first show in early May '11.
