In conversation with Jessica Paxton from "The Current," Shannon Shaw confessed that she thought “Real or Magic” was too sad because it depicted an actual visitation from Joe after he passed away. ‘I thought it would just be torturing everyone.’ Luckily, her bandmates convinced her otherwise. And the song became a single.
