Maria Marshall, originally from Marcus Hook, PA, started singing as a young teenager and then later joined a dixieland band by the name of the Freddie Masters Band. She then moved to NYC and met Chubby Jackson, a very well known and established bass player. He was fascinated and in awe of Maria's talent bringing her onto his label with the album titled "Chubby Jackson Discovers Maria Marshall". That would be the demo she would take to Mr. Benny Goodman up to his NYC penthouse to audition with over 200 other singers. Needless to say, Maria got the gig. She toured with Benny for over year, performing all over the world and on Ed Sullivan and the Bell Telephone Hour.  Maria sang for President Nixon at the White House as well as for the King of Thailand among other things. Maria Marshall 12.26.33 - 8.21.12  - We will miss her but never forgotten, so ladies and gents, I give you my amazing Mother, Ms. Maria Marshall.
