In what one could probably call "the lost remixes", we unearthed two unpublished cuts which fell to the roadside for any number of inane reasons that we have forgotten since. What we didn't forget, however, is how damn fine these reworks are. Take for example MICHAEL MAYER's take on KAITO's "Behind My Life", an obvious highlight on both Kaito's EP and full-length offerings last year, but as the rest of his work not really lending itself to radical remix treatments - the typical ambience of a Kaito track is too delicate, it seems, for the good ole "let's stick a fatter bass drum underneath it and be gone" routine. That's when you realize how masterful a remixer Michael Mayer actually is, turning the epic soundscapes of the original inside out and into a relentlessly grooving house stomper. The melodic break is where it's at on this one, giving them punters ample space to get truly lost in sound. The flipside holds its own set of surprises with SASCHIENNE's ingenious boogie reboot of MOHN's "Saturn" off their 2012 debut album. Originally a kind of kraut-infused synth jam with all the time in the world for the contemplation of infinite truths and the possibility of space travel, it has now become a tightly knit space cowboy opera full of special effects and exciting laser shootouts. Because you know what they say: a vocoder a day keeps the doctor away.

With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Bedrock Records and a upcoming release on Get Physical, this 24 years young artist already managed to get himself a respected place in the international house scene. 

‘Rakuten’ perfectly showcases what the young Romanian is capable of. A dreamy 9 minute storyteller which slowly builds to it’s peak. It’s easy to hear why this track get's heavily played by John Digweed himself. Already released on vinyl, the digital release is set for the 17th of July on Bedrock Records.

In the history of Connaisseur we can’t remember ever having had an upcoming release with such a massive buzz in advance. Eventhough Human Machine has only had one release up to now, their name and popularity are spreading impressively, mainly due to the enormous support by Dixon, Âme and Solomun for the title track “146", which they have hammered in almost every set in the past months.

Concerning the music, it is fascinating how such simply constructed tracks can have such an impact in the club. This is the secret of Human Machine.

While '146' is dominated by a massive and remarkable synth-line, drilling its way into your head so that you may never forget it again, the B1 title 'Drone' is more focussed on a deep hypnosis, combined with a very demanding work on the groove. 'Janus', the closing title is the most airy and atmospheric track on the “146” EP, a passionate journey with an unexpected twist.

Human Machine is the project of Mauro di Martino, better known under his moniker Musumeci, Francesco Sorrentino, Simone Carpenzano and Paolo Lauretta.
