Hello, I’m Kasra. He/him. I’m writing to you from London.

Describe your gear set up in full detail?

At home I have Korg m1, Emu orbit, Xoxbox 303 clone,Tascam portastudio (I also use it to sample tapes), a microphone and some pedals.

Sometimes I take finished songs to a studio I use and run midi through Prophet 7 and Moog voyager to add some movements and layers and replace some of the drums with 808 or 909 if needed.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community? 

A phone-ban on all dancefloors please.

We present the closing set from Sansibar at our last event in January. “This mix was intended to be played at a music festival called 'Mach 1' on the land of the Djab Wurrung and Jardwardjali people in Australia, but was cancelled due to bushfires. 
In the mix, there is a meditation I wrote referencing bushfires in Gariwerd Country, and a unique mushroom (Pyronema Omphalodes) which only appears after a bushfire. 
Fire is an integral part of the Australian landscape, with many species depending on it for reproduction. However, the Western way that land is managed, in combination with climate change, means catastrophic bushfires are becoming more frequent. 
Aboriginal knowledge of caring for Country needs to be tapped into to reduce the devastation that bushfires bring. Cultural burning means applying fire in a way that is best for the entire ecosystem, not just for people, but for animals, plants, and fungi. Visit firesticks.org.au to learn more.

012 | 'Rising From The Ashes' by Moss Witch

Pigeon Steve is a familiar face amidst the Glasgow underground, as the co founder of the long running Partial parties and as a stellar producer.

He has been involved in the music scene for many years and has developed a keen reputation for his work in the studio which is perhaps best highlighted by his bold decision to present this mix which consists entirely of his own productions. No small feat.

Last year he released his debut EP via Future State but by the sounds of it there’s a whole shedload more to come.

In terms of style, his music sits somewhere between disjointed Dub, Slo-Mo House and Downtempo which makes for a drugged out trippy excursion on the dancefloor. This mix demonstrates a well rounded approach and impressively carves its own niche.

Kia has a taste-making ear for digging, sophisticated knack for storytelling and bubbling energy that draws people to her whether she’s backstage, behind the decks or on the dance floor. The DJ and curator wields atmospheric and psychedelic sounds that produce entire pulsating worlds through the speakers and between global connections.

The idea behind this mix was to create a soundtrack for intergalactic lesbian warriors. A parallel scenario with android women out of Wong Kar-Wai's film: 2046. Finding each other in dance, sensuality and psychedelia.
