The original version of "Agnus Dei", called "Agnus Dei: Phoenix", was written for the Phoenix Chorale in 2010. After a few years, the piece had evolved into something more condensed and introspective that felt like the essence of the piece, bookended by the peaceful opening theme. That turned into this final edition, which is simply named "Agnus Dei" to help differentiate it from the original.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM:
In the spring of 2018, Matt moved in with me, and we quickly learned that my house was not everything we needed as a couple.  So, in early 2019 we decided to buy another home, but after going through the motions, it just didn’t feel quite right, so we backed out and decided to renovate our existing home instead.  We spent a lot of time and effort working toward the renovation, but it fell through at the last minute right as the pandemic was beginning, leaving us in a bit of a bind.  We went on the search for our perfect home and we found it!  We were able to sell our existing home quickly, and we were able to renovate the new home to make it truly ours and everything we needed together.  We moved in the summer of 2020 and we absolutely love it.  The music on this album is about our journey, and how happy we are in our new space that we feel was meant just for us.  Welcome, to our HOME.

If These Walls Could Talk

The Air Raid Sirens wail... the innocents seek cover underground, but the onslaught continues.  Shelling and rockets from afar and bombs from above terrify and destroy without mercy as the cries of ordinary folks punctuate the air day and night. 😢 Such is Putin's war on Ukraine in the Spring of 2022.


This Track was born of a Collaboration with the WindDancer, Georg Boehme @Georg-Boehme  
We used my solo Piano track 'The Night Before Spring' as our stepping off point, with Georg adding improvised Baritone Sax, Bass Clarinet and Flute.

My Arrangement is a Tone Poem that tries to describe the war, and man's inhumanity to man. I pray that like the hopeful crescendos rising throughout the piece, that brotherhood and sanity will dawn and that peace will triumph, as the Weapons of war are beaten into ploughshares yet again.

May the heroic stand of the people of Ukraine continue to inspire and light the way for all mankind. ✌

Beside You is a peaceful and calming piano piece born as a lullaby to my son. We recently moved homes, and the new place might seem slightly a scary place for a child, especially at bed time when lights turn off. If Beside You had lyrics, it would say: don’t fear nothing, the moon is there to shine the light upon you, the Teddy is here to guard you and your mommy is right here beside you to calm you and make you feel safe. Love you my little boy!

Beside You

La princesse de Judée, Salomé, s’ennuie au palais de son beau‑père, le roi Hérode. Sa curiosité s’éveille lorsqu’elle entend la voix de Jochanaan, prophète tenu prisonnier par Hérode qui en a peur. Obsédée par cet homme énigmatique et vertueux, Salomé est prête à tout pour le posséder, vivant ou mort. D’après la scandaleuse pièce homonyme d’Oscar Wilde, Richard Strauss livre, en 1905, l’œuvre qui devait confirmer sa place de successeur de Richard Wagner dans l’opéra allemand. « Danse pour moi, Salomé ». De cette injonction lubrique d’Hérode à la jeune fille découle l’une des plus emblématiques pages orchestrales de l’histoire de l’opéra : la danse des sept voiles. Un intermède hypnotique qui pourrait à lui seul résumer la mortelle ascension du désir qui parcourt cette partition à l’orchestration aussi riche que moderne. Une fulgurance d’une heure quarante où la metteuse en scène Lydia Steier convoque, pour ses débuts à l’Opéra national de Paris, l’essence décadente de l’œuvre.
