For Avenue Red Podcast 126 we welcome Michael Sieler AKA M.S. from the super cool and quirky city of Portland, Oregon near the west coast of the USA. Michael is a very keen eclectic music collector and DJ whom we discovered via his awesome deep/dub techno selections on his SoundCloud page. It seems that he has elevated his game even higher than usual for this one... an absorbing, soothing, spaced-out 80-minute trip crafted exclusively for us lucky Avenue Red folks.

"A couple years ago, I was at the coast with some friends. After a late night of dancing and partying, I remember we all went to the beach (at the location seen in the artwork for this podcast) to watch the sun rise. You could hear the sound of the ocean, the calm waves splashing, and the trickle of the tide as it rolled in and out.

It was chilly but beautiful. The sounds of dub techno fit perfectly as the rising sun began to warm our bodies and wake us to the new day. This mix recaptures that moment, takes us back in time to that morning on the beach listening to some melodic dub techno." Michael Sieler, 2019

About Seramind [Germany] :

I am Elias Epp, musician and software engineer from Ulm (Germany). Seramind is my music project. Born 1989 in a sovkhoz in Kazakhstan and raised in southern parts of Germany.

Most of my stuff is Dub Techno / Ambient Techno or just pure Ambient. Working mostly with FL Studio and Audacity. Lots of obfuscation via stretching, cuts and effects.

Got into Techno music around 1999 with early Euro Dance and Trance (Aquagen, Cosmic Gate, Future Breeze, DJ Quicksilver, everything played on Club Rotation or Sunshine Live, really ...), later more Dutch oriented Trance music (Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Airwave etc.) and Ambient (Banco De Gaia, Xerxes, Cell, Shulman, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Ishq, Solar Fields, etc.), later more Progressive House (Bedrock, Sasha, Chable, Hernán Cattáneo, Taucher, LoQuai, Mistique Music), experimenting alongside with FL Studio and a minimal repertoire of synths and sounds, nothing too serious. After discovering Dub Techno and Ambient Techno (Warmth, Mr. Cloudy, Cio D'Or, DeepChord, aspect., Textural Being) started a more serious approach of producing.

MARIE WILHELMINE ANDERS is a wanderer in music. Musically and instrumentally trained since her earliest childhood, she received her first technical training as a sound engineer at GDR television. She played keyboards in a punk band in the East Berlin underground music scene, created field recordings and sound installations, studied classical composition at the University Of The Arts Berlin, and graduated as a music teacher at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. In Stuttgart she was an active part of the experimental improvisational scene playing piano as well as a set of electronics. There she founded two ensembles, "Unterton" and "Hammerhaus", both of which brought together groove and free-flowing improvised forms from different perspectives. Additionally, she initiated and directed “momentmusik"—a concert series for experimental and improvised music, visual arts, performance and spoken word, which established the connection between her ensembles and the national and international scenes. 

In 2005 she ended her concert activity and moved back to Berlin. Eager for new forms of expression, Marie learned to play the electric bass, and began producing her music using DAWs and publishing it under the pseudonym Marie Wilhelmine Anders.

Marie's conceptual thinking and her craft as a modern classical composer allow her to congenially translate non-musical concepts into a modern electronic language, influenced by techno, electronica, ambient music and drum & bass. Between 2018 and 2023 she released 6 albums, 2 EP’s, over 10 remixes and more than 20 mixes. As a producer, Marie likes to work alone and independently. She is also increasingly in demand as a remixer.

Her best friend writes: "Marie works her way out of all restrictions and experiments with styles and musical directions.Thereby she adapts formal means and creates something very much her own out of it. As always, I am impressed by her accuracy in everything she does. Marie is the secret Phoenix among my friends, who every time after it has turned to ashes, puts on a new and even more splendid plumage. I have great admiration for her consistency, uncompromising artistry, unconditional honesty, absolute fidelity and loyalty. One speaks of the Phoenix as an eternally youthful bird. And he can fly.”
