This is from Regina Spektor's 2009 "Far" album. I watched her perform for 1 1/2 hours. Just her and her Steinway. I was exhausted just playing and singing this fun and short song!

I love the sound of this song by Tori Amos's "Under The Pink" album (1994), but I cannot make heads or tails out of the lyrics. Playing and singing it was very fun! I am not Tori-level on the piano, but I tried my best!

This is from Suzanne Vega's 1987 album, Solitude Standing. I love the chorus "Hold Me Like A Baby That Will Not Fall Asleep". It was a pleasure to cover one of the songs from what is a favorite album of mine. It came very easily and naturally to me both playing and singing it.

This song is from George Michael's second solo album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1.
It came to me as a request from a friend who suggested I might try it. The jazz drumline and syncopation, dreamy voice. It was a challenge. I really enjoyed putting the keys and bass and drums together, but note to self: Ensure you can sing in that key before putting in all of that work! Vocal key is a bit low for me, but I tried my best. RIP George Michael. He was a musical genius.

This is from Echo And The Bunnymen's 1985 album "Songs To Learn and Sing". It was in serious rotation during my high school and college days! I was given the challenge to cover a coupla Bunnymen songs at an upcoming tribute show. This is how it turned out. I hope you enjoy!

I love the cha-cha beat in this one! I programmed a few different drumlines - progress! Added some harms and backups. And voila! Lord Huron is on my list for concerts. This is from their fourth studio album "Long Lost" from 2021.

This was a vocal challenge for me, and I didn't realize it until I picked up the mic! There was belting, head voice, chest voice, the works. This is from Crowded House's self-titled debut album in 1986. I don't think I could tell you another Crowded House song, but man, this one was in serious rotation for me.

"Thank U" is from Alanis Morissette’s 1998 album "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie" and is a reflection on her trip to India. After watching her video performing it in 1999 at Woodstock, I gave it a go. After putting the backing track together (the glissandos I added worked out perfectly!), India quickly came into the news on 5/6/25. It's all about the music - no political statement here. Singing was the hard part! Alanis’s voice is strong and unique. I will never compare.

Heart of Gold by Fiona Apple, I mean, Neil Young. Holy shit! When I heard this cover when this tribute album came out, I got chills up my spine for days on repeat. I had to try it. An easy one to cover and is a classic! Cymbal crash at end! Getting better at programming drums altho my replacement of the harmonica pales in comparison.

When the 21 Pilots brought their Bandito tour to TD Garden in 2018, every little boy at my sons’ elementary school went, I swear. Parents had to chaperone and there was no way we were gonna like their music. Well, 7 years later, still playin’ those songs every once in a while. "Ride" is from their 4th sudio album "Blurryface". I gave it a go an put it together in 24 hours, tracks and vocals! Very fun!

My 80-year old Dad was visiting for my son's graduation and he brought his beautiful Taylor, so we plugged it into GBand and started laying down some tracks. An apropos Bob Dylan song for my graduating son! My Dad was getting frustrated laying down his vocals separate from his guitar but we made it work. I added my keys and harms! He still plays Open Mics at his age!

I told myself I'd NEVER attempt a Sinéad O' Connor song, but then I pulled the trigger. Not gonna lie. I got chills while singing it, then tears in my eyes while mixing it. I found her 4th studio album "Universal Mother" in a record store on Haight Ashbury St in 1995 on a weekend excursion from my little cabin working at King's Canyon National Park, CA. This was the soundtrack to that lonely yet introspective summer alone in the woods. My bucket list tour at a tiny venue in Boston was rescheduled 3 times due to Covid then mental health issues and then abruptly ended by her death. I was and still am devastated! I grew up to her music.

I wrote a song! It’s called "The Glow." A bit of a social commentary on the internet, our phones, the glow of our devices in our faces. Watching youth who can’t escape this glow. Living half of my life without it gives me comfort. Seeing what's ahead does not.

This is from Patrick Watson's 2019 album "Wave". While looking for piano-heavy artists for my son, a Canadian friend directed me to Patrick Watson. At first listen, the song evoked various emotions in me. As with every cover, there is always a new challenge. For this song, it was the timing, even though it seemed like a no brainer before getting started. Looking forward to his 2026 east coast tour now!

CONFESSION: HUGE Miley fan here. When a friend showed up at a costume party years ago as Hannah Montana, I went on a deep dive and never looked back. Her newest album, "Something Beautiful" does not disappoint! I know I sound like a church choir girl trying to be her deep, throaty voice but I could not resist playing around with this one. Loved putting the backing track together with motorisers and fun bridge.

I saw Sarah Mac at her tour in Boston two nights ago and have been following her since her Vox days. I had the backing track ready for Mary before the show, but hadn't started the vocals. She inspired me to get right to the mic as she still hit her high notes flawlessly ("Fear" live was beyond impressive in her highest range). I tried my highest range at the end of Mary too. It's a bit of a sad song but I enjoyed putting all the parts and pieces together.

I love this girl! When you go to a show, don’t you hope the opener has a short set cuz you’re there for the headliner, right? When Blondshell opened up for Liz Phair, I didn’t want it to be over! Her little groupies in overalls yelling “We LOVE you” next to me and every single song got me. I’m still hooked on her debut album where I found “Olympus”.
