Marie Nyx is back with her second EP titled “Nowhere to Run.” Following her single “Asteria,” Marie decided to focus on honing her deep, hypnotic techno sound. She was further affirmed after playing the City Steps stage at Crssd Festival last fall that she was on the right sonic journey with her primary focus on techno. The fast tempo and driving groove of both tracks on Nowhere to Run ignites a powerful energy with both listeners and dancers alike. Nyx is releasing her EP this month in celebration of her upcoming b2b techno set with Materielle at Reform Festival. 



Today we highlight her track “Escapism”, as it solidifies the intention of the EP. While writing this EP, Nyx was on a journey of self-discovery. “Escapism” embodies her feelings of solace in the studio and on techno dance floors as a hiatus from sitting in a space of growth, reflection, and discomfort. This track is inspired by the nostalgia of raving in the late 2000s where Nyx found grounding and alignment through electronic music.

As one of the premiere DJs in Los Angeles, Marie Nyx has an unmatched ability to adapt to the wants and needs of any dance floor without sacrificing her infectious, apparitional style. Marie’s early influence of post punk, new wave, darkwave, and indie/alternative dance has inspired her sound to be raw and dark with gritty synth lines and driving grooves. Marie was named in the November issue of DJ Mag’s monthly Bubblers Series as one of six emerging acts to follow and is recognized for revered DJ sets around Southern California. Notable bookings include Crssd Festival and Fngrs Crssd events, the Mixmag Lab LA, and 6am Group events, where she’s played in direct support of artists such as Sven Väth, Marcel Dettmenn, Pleasurekraft, Dubfire, and Nastia.

In 2021, Marie co-founded her own hypnotic imprint, Delusional Records, with producer and live artist Maude Vôs. The fundamental goal of the label is to revive the roots of dance music culture by releasing timeless, hard-ware driven pieces of work created by an inclusive roster of artists; primarily LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and female. Marie’s debut EP on Delusional hit the charts and caught the attention of many in the electronic industry. Since then, the label has been featured in SPIN Magazine, Insomniac Radio, EDM Maniac, and more.
