Chilled Winter

Originally a mix from a collaborative DVD I did with a local VJ in Phoenix

Solid State

A live vinyl set from one of my shows on Dj Source Radio from around late 2004 I think. 

	The sun is beating down on you. It is a crisp spring day with sapphire blue skies. There is a light wind blowing through your hair and rustling the nearby palms. You squint, put on your sunglasses and step towards your car. As you open the door a wave of heat and the scent of warm leather immerse you. You sit down in the warm seat, grip the steering wheel, and turn the key. The engine jumps to life with its familiar pur. With a firm click the car is in gear and you slowly pull out of the sun soaked parking lot.
	You maneuver the car out onto city streets and put down the windows as you meld with the flow. The car and you react as one being as you effortlessly sweep through traffic. You have no cares or worries as you continue to drive and follow the sun. As you pull away from the main city roads and onto the highway you can feel your pulse pick up. The accelerator creeps closer to the floor, the car's pur turns to growl as it pushes you back into your seat.
	Hours pass and you find yourself in the desert close to large mountains forming a wall in and out of the valley. You glide the car to a smooth stop and as you step out the beauty of the area overwhelms you. In the late afternoon heat you start hiking towards the valley wall. There is wildlife all around as you climb to a ledge, sand squeaking underfoot.
	You sit on the ledge and soak in the warmth of the sun as you see it setting in the distance. There is no real wind here and the ledge you are on is warm to the touch. The sun dips further and further behind the horizon while the noise of crickets becomes more audible.
	The sun finally drops completely out of sight as you continue to climb upwards to meet the rising moon. Coyotes howl in the distance and you feel a rush sweep through your veins. You climb to the top of the mountain, the moon and the stars illuminate the desert floor. in the distance you make out a bright beacon of flickering red and yellow light. After a short pause you begin down the side of the mountain towards the light. 
	You keep drawing closer to the light and as you do structures can be made out. The light is really a rather large fire and bodies can be seen sitting around it. A chant fills the air and you continue to move closer. You see a central figure moving around the fire speaking to the surrounding people.
	Almost as if out of nowhere drums start building, people begin swaying, and your mind and body are consumed in the environment. They begin dancing around the fire and you move in to join. You are welcomed into the dance to which your body seems to already know. they rhythm goes on and on, holding you completely entranced.
	Lightly in the background there is this new melody, which is almost surreal. Before your eyes the scenery begins to fade away. The melody grows louder. There is something that feels familiar to you. Then you realize you're at home in your bed. Not to sure what was real and what wasn't. A new day is in front of you.

The End's Beginning

To bring a close to 2025 I'm sharing what I believe is the last show I recorded with DJ Source Radio and which became one of my most requested CDs. I had intended on finally getting a new mix done before the end of the year, but that will now have to be something for 2026 and perhaps with some frequency.
