This wonderful track was never officially published and appeared on Youtube only twice as a live 1963 performance by Rosemary herself. There were no official SR copyright registrations as it was a cover of the song and is considered today as a 'cult classic' of sorts.

I used the original audio from the film, upsampled it and used a variety of Audacity shelfs and filters. I provide it here as an homage under a Creative Commons License.

THE DIARY OF A DJ  is a mixcast, or better said, a non-tape kind of mixtape. It focuses on telling a story by way of thematically presented songs reminiscent of concept album LPs. The songs used are primarily club, downtempo, dub and ambient from artists of the past and present. The intended audience is the dj of course but program directors and other industry denizens, as well as those new to the genre, are invited to listen.

As diaries often are, the 'pages' of these mixes, talk to the up and down life encounters (in and out of clubland) as seen through the eyes of the disc jockey and more specifically a dj who goes by the name of Marin. Some have described his work as NPR's Echoes meets the UK's Ministry of Sound, but this having been said, it remains a sound sculpture and soundscape that can not be easily defined.

Marin describes himself and his music as such: "I am no disc jockey at all... real and renowned dj's like Larry Levan or David, Nicky, Tony, Frankie and Danny would have agreed. If I was playing dance hall i'd be called a selector and it is in fact a better description. My mixing style is closer to that made most famous by legendary dj David Mancuso and is often called a drop-mix. My music choice for this diary? Well diaries speak to past events and so i like paying particular attention to the chillout classics of just yesterday with one or two gems you might not have heard before and with an attitude that every dj enjoys... to play what you like and feel and hope that there is an audience willing to listen."
