Boogie Angst is proud to present the Turbotito remix of Georges’ superb single, Karma. Taken from his 2021 debut Boogie Angst EP, Sights, lead single Karma is originally an organic, feel-good number. 
Please pick the appropriate refreshment because it feels like the sun’s about to come out with this remix: Turbotito (aka Filip Nikolic of Poolside fame) flips the original bouncy song into a certified trippy lounge classic. Balearic to say the least, he injects the original with a certain endless feel to it - perfect for those steamy summer nights.
A funky, plucky rhythm guitar guides us through several passages, whilst swirling synth arpeggios dance about like dusty teenagers around an illegal campfire. Chanting, somewhat haunting vocals lay atop of groovy electronic chops, but never get too demanding or in-your-face. The Turbotito remix of Georges’ Karma is ready to be enjoyed by poolside dwellers and daydreamers alike!

This is my personal refix of Booka Shade's beautiful gem: 'Night Falls', taken from the 'Movements' album released in 2006 at Get Physical Music (Berlin). According to Resident Advisor, 'Night Falls' deserves more than one listen: it will intrigue you more if you know its destination. This is exactly what I had in mind when creating this refix: intensify that mysterious sense even more. Hence I've used samples from Larry Gold's 'Night Falls Over Philly' String Version, taken from 'Cinematic Shades (The Slow Songs)' album released in 2008. The subtle classical addition of Larry Gold's uplifting string quartet takes this track to the next level. I just can’t stop listening to it. What about you?

Just in time for summer, Pampa issued Aimlessness, the long-awaited new album from Dntel AKA Los Angeles producer Jimmy Tamborello. His latest electronic suite brought forth stronger leanings toward house grooves, building upon the pop and IDM approaches he explored earlier in his career as half of the Postal Service and a member of Figurine – with a healthy dose of Pampa otherworldliness on top. 

Now, Robag Wruhme steps in and recontextualizes two Aimlessness cuts for a remix EP. Wruhme is already a beloved member of DJ Koze’s extended family, having released the full-length Thora Vukk about one year ago, which was deemed “another success for both him and Pampa” in Resident Advisor’s four-star review.

First up is Robag’s “Kloff Mottüré” mix of “Bright Night”, a starry-eyed transformation of Dntel’s work that twinkles like fireflies in the clear midnight sky. With symphonic splashes, playful pitter-patters and a tranquil breakdown, it sounds a bit like teenage toads skinny-dipping amongst the lilypads.

Next up, Robag finds inspiration in Dntel’s “Jitters”, not once but twice:  The “Marf Labo” mix takes the title quite literally, offering a jittery breakbeat interpretation with a metallic angel chorus swirling over the haphazard beats. Finally, on the flip side, the “Emmens Worsch” mix brings things more closely aligned with the grooving, heartfelt house thump that Pampa has engendered. It’s the EP’s most DJ-friendly cut, while at the same time showing off Robag’s gentle production touches and letting Tamborello’s sweet, subdued voice shine through.

An artist of versatility and skill, Viken considers music to be foremost a mirror of his emotions, not limiting himself to a single musical universe. Since he was young, he’s explored all various types of musical styles which he’s merged, and composes based solely off his mood. His mastery of the piano, and an attained degree at music school, has supplied him with a formal background in musical culture, and an undeniable ease which has enabled him to develop artistic creations ranging from Jazz through music for films, classical works, up until electronic music which he’s been experimenting with for the past 13 years.

For this first release, Viken offers two pieces which borderline between minimal, electronica and deep house. Supported by the maintenance for a constant harmony, the rhythm throughout 'Nostalgie' and 'Addiction' is embellished with refined and magnificently crafted beats. When most come to a halt entering that which is unexplored and uncertain, Viken succeeds with brilliance : marrying coherence and traditional melodic charm, not to mention "symphonies" of clearly electronic-oriented beats composed from original and unique sounds. The influence of the ‘Greats’ in regards to contemporary music at a broad sense can easily be deciphered when listening to Viken’s work : names like Erik Satie and Acid Pauli come first to mind.

Berlin producer Nico Stojan, pillar to bar 25 and Germany’s deep/tech-house scene, took on his own spin to the title Addiction. What emerges is a dynamite version with immaculate percussions enhanced by a nonchalant bass.

The other title of the EP, ‘Nostalgie’ is remixed by another producer across the Rhine, Paul Chriske, aka Powel. Both ascending from Berlin’s deep-house scene, Paul has everything to become legendary : a signature sound recognizable amongst 100s, an experienced drummer, etc. From the remix emerges a complete reconfiguration of the track, centralized around the use of the piano. Powel totally reworks the bass, an atypical speciality done by the use of his ‘paw’, the captivating atmosphere he scatters throughout the track via sounds deriving straight from the depths of Berlin.
