MARIO LEONARD

DJ/PRODUCER/SONGWRITER/SINGER, performs in various nightclubs in Montreal, like: Complexe Sky, Bain Mathieu, Fierte Montreal and other events.

Born in Amqui (Quebec, Canada), Mario Leonard at an early age is passionate for artists like James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Diane Dufresne and Luc Plamondon.

At 14, he became a member of a Drum Corps (Les Arcs-en-ciel) Montreal-Nord, where he learned the basics of percussion.

At 18, he started his own band (High Voltage), for which he was lead singer : with his band, he made the bar scene of Quebec and Ontario for 2 years.

After a few years working for the Government, he decided to come back to his old love, music, and got a first contract as DJ in 1990 at 'Fuzzy Nightclub'; he finally became DJ resident at 'La Track' from 1991 to 2001.

In fact, it was at this bar 'La Track' that this DJ worked for more 500 Wednesdays, on the theme night 'Woolco Nights' at the Bourbon's Complex. It was a huge success!

In 1997, he was invited to play at the 'Copa' in Key West, Florida and at « Divers/cité »' in Montreal from 2002 to 2006.

At the end of 2004, he won a contest at 'MusiquePlus' : 'Fais spinner Yann Perreault' with the title song : 'La chair, les animaux' by Yann Perreault, (Mario Leonard Radio Remix).

For the next year,he had the chance to spin at Park Emilie-Gamelin for « Divers/Cité » just before Samantha Fox’s show.
It was also the first time that Mario had the opportunity to tested his first House Remix, a song called : « Chain of fools » (Mario Leonard Remix) popularized by Aretha Franklin.

In 2006 he collaborated for the first time with the recording artist Carol Jiani for two new remixes. « The woman in me » and « Hit’n run lover »,two Big Hits in the 80s.

During the year 2008, this DJ/Producer did ten remixes including two Disco Classics : »Let the night take the blame feat. Lorraine McKane and « Disco inferno » feat. The Trammps & Mario Leonard on vocals.

The same year two remixes were released : I’m calling feat. Luisa Pepe (Mario Leonard Remix) on La Chapelle Records and « Superstar (Mario Leonard Club Mix) 
from Dirty Taz (C.D).

In the fall 2008 Mario produced the remix of the song : »Maybe God » featuring Jeanie Tracy & Pepper Mashay two Divas of USA who have Big Hits in the House Music Industry.
The remix was created specially for the event of Palm Spring and for the Record Compagny « Sweet Feet Music » in California.

The year 2009 started in a good way with the remix of « Are you man enough » feat. Carol Jiani & Evelyn Thomas who popularized the Mega Hit : » High Energy » in the 80s.
This remix is on sale by « House Nation » (label) in Germany and England.

His remix of "Miles away" from Madonna was a big hit at "Le Tube" Club.
« I am what I am » from the musical comedy (La cage aux folles) introducing the (Diva) Carol jiani who interpreted the remix at Miami (April 19th 2009) and the reaction was instant success.
Mario produced a remix for the Record compagny « Night Dance Records » (Sweden)  "Roulette" released in June and August 2009.

For the last 10 years, Mario has writing his own material and remixes, his ultimate dream is to produce his own C.D.

DJ/PRODUCTEUR/AUTEUR/COMPOSITEUR/INTERPRETE, il se produit dans divers clubs de Montréal, comme le Complexe Sky, Bain Mathieu, Fierte Montreal et d'autres événements.

A 18 ans, il fonde son propre groupe 'High Voltage', pour lequel il était chanteur et fait une tournée des bars du Québec et de l'Ontario pendant 2 ans.

Après avoir travaille pour le gouvernement quelques années, il décide de revenir a son amour de la musique et décroche son premier contrat comme DJ en 1990 au 'Fuzzy' a Laval et finalement, il devient DJ résident a 'La Track' de 1991 a 2001.

En fait, c'est a ce bar 'La Track' qu'il fait plus de 500 mercredis comme DJ, sous une soirée thème 'Woolco Night' au complexe Bourbon, qui fut un succès retentissant.

Il a été invite a jouer au 'Copa' a Key West (Floride) en 1997 et pour Divers/Cité à Montréal de 2002 a 2006.

C'est à cet évènement que Mario a fait tourner son premier remix house: "Chain of fools" (Mario Leonard Remix). Chanson qui à été popularisé par Aretha Franklin.

A l'automne 2008 Mario a produit le (Show Mix) de la chanson:"Maybe God" mettant en vedette Jeanie Tracy & Pepper Mashay (deux Divas Américaines qui ont plusieurs Hits dans l’industrie de la House Musique), une création réalisé spécialement pour un évènement à Palm Spring, et pour la compagnie de disques « Sweet Feet Music » en Californie.

L'année 2009 commence bien avec la sortie du remix de "Are you man enough" feat. Carol Jiani et Evelyn Thomas
(qui a popularisé le Méga Hit "High Energy" dans les années 80) ce remix est sur l‘étiquette de disques « HOUSE NATION » et est en vente en Allemagne et en Angleterre.

Mario a aussi produit: "Miles away" de Madonna, un remix qui a été très populaire au "Club Tube" aussi, il a produit un mix d'une chanson de la comédie musicale (La cage aux folles)
"I am what I am" mettant en vedette Carol Jiani qui a interprété ce remix (le 19 Avril 2009) à Miami,
la réaction a été unanime, ce fut un succès instantané.

Mario a travaillé et réalisé un remix pour la compagnie de disques: « Night Dance Records » (Suède), "Roulette" qui ont vu le jour au mois de juin et en Aout 2009.

Mario aime beaucoup les titres en français alors c'est en 2010 qu'il a fait son "Revisited Mix" de la chanson:
"Tout l'or des hommes" de Céline Dion,un remix qui a été très populaire avec les fans de Céline.

Depuis 10 ans, Mario écrit ses propres compositions et produit plusieurs remixes.
Son rêve ultime est de sortir un jour son propre CD.
