Sailor & I + Eekkoo - Letters (Lower Case) - Noir Remix

Eekkoo, a familiar figure on the local Montreal scene and soon far beyond, has had a formidable year. With notable highlights including a remix for Jeremy Olander on Suara and Mark Jackus and Marcus Sur on Noir Music, as well as a widely celebrated collaboration project with Indie-Electronica phenom Sailor & I, it’s no wonder electronic music royalty in the likes of Richie Hawtin, Hernan Cattaneo, Adriatique and Maya Jane Coles count themselves as his supporters.

Showcasing the full spectrum of what has become a recognisable trademark sound, the ‘Nightingale’ EP is an impressive debut on a label that has had four number 1 Beatport releases in as many attempts.

The eponymously named lead record takes charge with its soothing, delicate lead contrasted against a sinister vocal and thumping bassline. Complementing the A-side is ‘Amplified’ and ‘Zwart’. The former draws your mind to an epic voyage and awakes a similar feeling as a cinematic musical score, while the latter is a bonafide behemoth and boasts a powerful, melancholic lead with rumbling underlying atmosphere.

Vowing to make Vivrant a home for new and established acts with a sound that finds itself in the crossroads between techno, tech and early 2000s progressive, Olander makes good on that promise by forming what feels like a natural pairing of Eekkoo and Vivrant.

The last release of 2016 on Darin Epsilon’s Perspectives Digital features D33P alongside vocalist Justn X. D33P made his debut on our ‘ADE 2016 Sampler’ last October with an Instrumental Mix of ‘Sorry’. Hailing from Tel Aviv, he’s been making waves in the industry since 2009 with releases on respected labels such as Diynamic and Parquet Recordings. The Vocal Mix displays some bright harmonious chords and strong emotions while staying true to his impeccable and poignant style.

Back on Perspectives is the unstoppable duo, Jos & Eli, whose notoriously smooth, sensual, groovy style is on full display with two dramatically different remixes of ‘Sorry’. The highly acclaimed artists have been gaining momentum and picking up new followers at lightning speed recent releases on Diynamic, Sudbeat, Parquet, Einmusika, and Steyoyoke. Jos & Eli’s first remix delivers velvety bass, intricate percussion, and sweeping melodies, while their 4am Mix captures the audience with its driving percussion, grimy melodies, and stabbing chords.

Kosmas, also known as Kosmas Epsilon, makes his long-awaited return to the label. The Greek artist’s dreamy and hypnotic grooves have been filling dancefloors by world-renowned DJs for over a decade. His seemingly endless discography can be found on massive imprints including Get Physical, Global Underground, and Sudbeat. Kosmas completes this release with a deep and mysterious yet energizing interpretation of ‘Sorry’.

Looking back at 2016, Jeremy Olander could make a case that it was his biggest year so far...

He launched his new label Vivrant which saw 4 out of the first 5 releases make it to number one on Beatport, and he also took the brand on a label tour across 5 continents which included a sold out hometown gig to 1200 people alongside Henry Saiz, Finnebassen and Charlie Don’t Surf. His Talespin EP on Suara made it to number one on Beatport's Top 100 Releases chart, and the B-side, ‘Panorama’, sat at number one on the Progressive chart for impressive 35 days straight. On the remix front, Olander notably reworked  ‘LETTERS’, the Sailor & I and Eekkoo collaboration released on Big Beat/Atlantic - a remix which is quickly approaching 1 million streams on Spotify.

2017 is well set to be even better: The ‘Damon’ EP is out now on his own imprint (the first release from Olander this year); upcoming is an collaboration EP with past Balance Selections compiler Cristoph, and a non-stop tour schedule is ensuring the Vivrant label owner is taking his sound globally.

For this podcast the Swede has delivered a mix which feature an exciting amount of new Jeremy Olander productions: 'I’ve included a lot of unheard stuff to make it stand out and show people what I’ve been working on lately.’ Olander told us, 'Most of these I haven't played at any shows so I'm excited to try and gauge what people might like by the reactions’. And we can only think the reactions will be positive. Jeremy Olander has gone above and beyond to deliver something special.

Swedish electronica band Highly Sedated have recruited enigmatic duo CYA to remix their single ‘Make Love’, which is due for release on 12th May via Steve Angello’s SIZE imprint. 

CYA’s rendition boasts swarming synth patterns and a driving bassline, surrounding a captivating male vocal. The original of ‘Make Love’ was released last year and was met with acclaim. The atmospheric track rapidly became a firm fixture in Angello’s sets and it continues to thrive online.

Formed in 2015, Highly Sedated is a result of a group of brother-like friends with a wide difference of musical backgrounds coming together. Their latest single, ‘Last Call’ is another strong display of their eclectic taste and genre-bending style. 

CYA’s remix follows their debut release ‘Mistakes’ which received its first play on Angello’s BBC Radio 1 residency show and received support from Pete Tong, who played the track on his revered show. This summer, the duo will be playing The Ghost Ship’s second phase, one of the biggest festivals in the Mediterranean Sea.

The dark, anthemic remix is set to add to the excitement surrounding both Highly Sedated and CYA’s flourishing careers.
