Nomads: An EP dedication to Koyla’s Late Father

Dedicated to Koyla’s late father and originally played on the old Musima guitar his mother gifted him in the 80’s, “Nomads” (the title track) owes its existence to a melody Koyla first heard when he picked up the instrument. “When I found it at that difficult time in my life, I played this tune, which I now dedicate to you, father.”Living a nomadic lifestyle in Bali since 2021, listeners can expect to get a taste of the unpredictability, excitement and emotional rollercoaster experienced by an untethered artist in this 4-track EP.

This EP offers a mesmerizing sonic journey that would fit perfectly on the soundtrack of HBO’s “White Lotus” or Apple’s “Severance.” Hypnotic, intense and gripping, the duo immaculately features the enigmatic, pervasively beautiful cello, taking center stage as it is joined by a backdrop of sometimes frenzied, cacophonous percussion - moving the listener through a tense, dramatic and unexpected thrill-ride. No stranger to fusing classical instruments with electronic music, Tensky launched an orchestral collaboration in 2015 entitled “All In,” releasing three albums, which still have no analogues. Meanwhile, Koyla, a Bombay Records alumni with multiple successful releases under his belt, showcases his meticulous collaborative prowess. 

Crafting Unforgettable Melodies

One can’t help but feel an immense sense of both relief and wonder when the music resolves. In the grand tradition of using orchestral movements to evoke various states of emotion, each track tells its own unique story. From the moment you hit play on Nomads you are “in it.” Starting slowly, building to a crescendo, and finally releasing to a sweet, blissful and satisfying coda. What sets this release apart from both of its parent genres is its novelty. The duo brings the absolute best of both classical and electronic elements and weaves them into a modern masterpiece, utilizing each element to its fullest potential. 

The Power of Synergy

With the backing of Tensky’s string quintet Synergy Orchestra, “Bohemia” builds from echoey percussion and bells to an entire symphonic story - plot and all. “Moonbow” develops from a simple penetrating bassline and shaker to intricately complex polyphony, incorporating Koyla’s subtle, yet captivating melodies. Beautifully haunting, its pulsating rhythm and occasional discordance evoke themes of sadness, tension and speak directly to the depth of the human soul. “Astrid” features Boris Hecha on percussion and takes risks that pay off immensely. Reminiscent of a thunderstorm, the ratcheting up of suspense is engaging and gratifying while “Nomads” takes a more gentle approach with its serious, more light-hearted bossa vibe. In Nomads, Koyla and Tensky demonstrate their passionate, multi-dimensional musical artistry and ability to translate emotions that words simply cannot.

His productions and remixes are finding their way in many sets by names like C.7even, Anika Kunst, Drumcell and Juho Kusti.

Biography

Korben Nice is a young Spanish producer, born in the city of Toletum. He started with his first projects in Madrid, he started his learning with Adolf Marsan. His first productions were published in Croatia, Portugal and Italy. He has produced for the American label founded by Michaelangelo in California Labrynth with references to A Paul and Oscar Mulero. He has done some works for the German label Physical and 43Recordins Techno label founded by Michel Lauriola. He has remixed top producer HD-Substance for the label Finnish black. He is referenced to the Russian label wunderblock, which has published and obtained his greatest hits. Korben Nice opts for atmospheric and hypnotic sounds. The style that defines it is the electronic and techno. Actually, he is living in Barcelona
