Still remember when my girl-friend called me and told me to watch the news, as a plane had crashed into tower 1. First everybody thought, that was a horrible accident...
but then, only some minutes later the 2nd plane came, we saw it flying into the tower 2 on the screen, and then the whole world knew: that was no coincidence, but a terror attack!
Later, we were assembled in the only room in the building with a TV screen, many colleagues, one of them shouted: the tower is crashing!
And I calmed them down and said, that this was impossible, I mean the WTC was huge, there was no way, unimaginable it could just crash...
but in fact, it did, and only shortly after the 2nd tower fell down....
the room with so many people - silence....

This moment, when my colleagues and me watched the TV in the boardroom, silently, and saw the twin towers collapse, burned into my heart. We all knew, that the time after 9/11 would not be the same. We all were New Yorkians at that time. Only some weeks before I had been in NY and stayed at my preferred hotel, the Millenium Hilton, directly opposite the twin towers. The hotel collapsed some days later. I still remember watching the people flocking into the WTC before I went to our offices in Wall Street. They are all dead now, as are nearly all colleagues from the broker Cantor Fitzgerald, its company "eSpeed" and the insurance broker Marsh McLennan, firms I had contact with.

Burned into my heart are as well the pictures of people on the roof of the WTC searching for helicopters, and of the people jumping out of the windows. That´s what I would have done in their situation, too. A Reuters journalists reached some of the people in the Top floors, as the telephone lines were still working. He asked them what they were doing - the answer: "We are fucking dying."

I am intending on writing a series on "9/11", as I feel, how much this tragedy moves me.

عباس کیارستمی (۱ تیر ۱۳۱۹ – ۱۴ تیر ۱۳۹۵) فیلم‌ساز و عکاس ایرانی است که به عنوان یکی از تأثیرگذارترین سینماگران جهان شناخته می‌شود. او از سال ۱۹۷۰ میلادی در کار سینما شروع به فعالیت کرد و بیش از ۴۰ فیلم بلند، کوتاه و مستند ساخت. از مهم‌ترین کارهایش می‌توان به: سه‌گانهٔ کوکر، کلوزآپ، طعم گیلاس و باد ما را خواهد برد اشاره کرد. او در دوره پایانی کارش به فیلم‌سازی بیرون از ایران روی آورد که حاصلش فیلم‌هایی مانند کپی برابر اصل و مثل یک عاشق بود.

کیارستمی علاوه بر سینما در کارهای دیگر هنری از جمله شعر، عکّاسی، چیدمان، موسیقی، طراحی گرافیک و نقاشی نیز فعال بود. او را باید در زمرهٔ سینماگران جریان موسوم به موج نوی سینمای ایران و همتای سهراب شهید ثالث و پرویز کیمیاوی به‌شمار آورد. سادگی، استفاده از کودکان به عنوانِ نقش اول و قهرمانِ داستان، سبکِ مستندگونه، بهره‌گیری از فضاهای روستایی، حذفِ کارگردان، شاعرانگی برخی از ویژگی‌های فیلم‌های کیارستمی است. کیارستمی برندهٔ جایزه‌های سینماییِ فراوانی است. وی پنج بار نامزد جایزه نخل طلای جشنواره فیلم کن شد و در سال ۱۹۹۷ در پنجاهمین دورهٔ جشنواره فیلم کن برای طعم گیلاس این جایزه را گرفت.

I am a songwriter pouring out my feelings into lyrics.  This is something new for me as I never knew that I had songs within me until life got a little hard and as I walked through this season, I began to find new things within me and exploring my creative side has been a pleasure.  I am focused on writing lyrics right now and eventually I would like to work with musicians to make more formal recordings or perhaps enjoy watching other artists record my songs.  Either way it is a pleasure to write lyrics, to give concrete meaning to my feelings and to memorialize what I have learned through life in song.
