I already look back on this recording experience as one of the best days of my life. Unbeknownst to Michael (who booked the studio on his own), the studio was located at the end of my street in Brookline, Mass. Zippah Recording is a hidden gem in a sea of dog walkers, elementary schools, and Brookline moms. And where Sirio Balmelli was the coolest guy Mike and I had ever met, Annie Hoffman was by far the coolest chick. We never had a moment of frustration during that session. It was just one high five after another.

Sore Eyes (Mike & Mari Original)

Just visited Michael in LA and between the kickbacks and the polar bear masks, we got to lay this down without a third party! Michael has gotten to be just as good on the other side of the glass window as he's always been with his guitar behind the mic. We were very lucky to get our hands on top notch mics for the piano, and enough studio time to get stuff done. Recording this was pretty grueling considering my ability to sing it is not quite there, but I'm still glad we got it down :)

I've wanted to record this song ever since I got the idea for it, and finally the day came when I could! It's changed quite a bit from its original version, but improved with ever step. I have to give Mike Sobel some credit for ideas on where and where not to put some of the vocal lines, and I also have to give him total credit for recording and mixing the entire piece. I wish I could record my good friend Char's viola skills over it, but besides that, I think this song has come out alright! Thank you Mike for all your hard work!
