Here is the 9th mix of my seasonal series. Each episode captures a prominent phase in my life since arriving to Canada. It's amazing to see how my sound has evolved over the years, expanding across the electronic music spectrum - all owing to the wonderful, diverse blend of local and international artists we are blessed with in Montréal, as well as the relentless support and influence of friends.

Hailing from the mountainous city of Zahlé, Lebanon, Marjaba was immersed in music from a young age. Inspired by the progressive trance era of 2002-2008, he developed a unique sound that marries progressive, deep, tech, and minimal house.

Synergy - the coming together of two entities that produces a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.

Art can be individual or collaborative, and performing it in both ways nurtures you on a personal as well as artistic level.

Last April, @wo0dmusic and I took the Sanctuary for an incredible 9.5-hour ride. Today we're releasing a 3-hour extract as the second edition of our Synergy series. 

The Sanctuary is a recording studio & private venue with an incredible sound system, built by Shelton Cooper and the late Angel Moraes, one of the most talented artists of his time.

I've always seen recorded mixes as representations of my mindset, emotions, and chronological place in life at the time. Here's a 3.5 hour journey through the spectrum of sounds that continue to resonate with me the most.

Deep, mellow, groovy, dark, intense, hypnotic, and sexy - all making up the beauty that is progressive.

Hailing from Zahle in the mountains of Lebanon, Marjaba's passion for music is deep-rooted in culture - as his father had a career training and dancing professional Dabke with the iconic Fairouz and Rahbani brothers during Lebanon's golden age.

Now based in Montreal, he crafts a distinctive sound characterized by depth, groove, and driving energy. He made his mark in the local scene with standout performances at venues like Stereo Afterhours and Stereobar.

Marjaba revealed Sonotopia as an outlet for his creative ethos, on which he launched a mix series and a showcase, laying the groundwork for a bright future of exciting adventures & collaborations.

He also hosts an annual "Deeper Realms" that focuses on more experimental sounds that include ambient and electronica.
