Description:

The three thousand year old city of Cartagena is surrounded by five hills that made it a key military enclave. It holds the ‘Carthaginians and Romans Festival’, an event that has gained the recognition of international tourist interest. This festival begins with the lighting of the Sacred Fire, which arrives in the city via the Port, accompanied by a procession formed by priestesses and vestals. These were in charge of keeping the fire alive at all times and they owe their name to the goddess Vesta, the keeper of the hearth in all homes.
